UPDATE Michael Jackson rushed to the hospital (He Has Died)

I was in shock today when I heard he had custody of his kids. He just doesnt seem like someone to trust with 3 kids, but who knows

Debbie Rowe gave up her rights, as did the unknown surrogate mom of the youngest. He has never been convicted of anything that would warrant "taking" his kids away.

There are reports that for now, the kids will be staying at Jackson's mothers house.

They were home when he collapsed but did not go to the hospital.

I am not sure that I would agree that a woman that gave birth to 2 children and was willing to give up all rights to them for a large sum of cash is the best person to give custody to.

I haven't heard much about Janet since the 'wardrobe" incident . Not sure is really very stable either. If Michael did have a Will then it will be very interesting when it is read and administered.

If he didn't have a will for them. Then would they go to his next of kin his parents?

I am very upset with the media and people who are trying to take away from him today. It's disgusting. You may not have liked him and you may not have agreed with his lifestyle choices but you can't deny the man his music. He was truly the greatest and imo did not deserve the criticism he received about his face and lifestyle. Over the years I saw a man relentlessly destroyed by criticism for no reason. Yes, he was a bit odd but he was a genius. Most geniuses are odd. I'm done venting now. I'm just pretty upset with what I'm hearing and what I heard today.

It isn't fair to separate the good and the bad. They are both parts of his life and I think most people are acknowledging both when talking about his life.

I don't think anyone has questioned his talent.

If he didn't have a will for them. Then would they go to his next of kin his parents?

He has publicly criticized his parents so I really hope he had a plan for those kids.

It's amazing to see so many celebrities showing their love and appreciation of Michael Jackson, I don't think people understand how this has impacted the world today.

Been switching between CNN and MTV (they have had a ton of celebs calling in)

I got all upset again when they showed his body being taken from the helicopter. I didn't know him personally but because of him I love music and I enjoy his music, I don't think its wrong for me to feel this way.

I don't think it wrong that you feel upset. I just wish people wouldn't get so upset because there are some of us that don't enjoy him so much

Does anyone on the boards know how Jehovah Witness's bury their believers? Was MJ still a JW?

i found this online

The funeral will resemble a normal Sunday public talk at a meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses.

There will be no ceremonial rites or anything like that. JW's do not believe in doing things to appease the dead, such as wakes, and the like.

The funeral will include a talk about the life of the deceased, the beliefs of the deceased, and the Bible's hope for ressurrection. In fact, the Bible will be guide for the talk. The talk will be preceded and followed by a song and prayer. The manin emphasis on the precedngs will be to comfort the grieving ones.

Today may be the start of some thing I have been waiting for, namely a lot of famous people dying. People in America do not see death and only when a lot of young celebrities start dying everyday, or every week, will people get in touch with it. Then the truth will have a chance, because it is fear that people need to be motivated to even start seriously seeking the truth.

This is the first generation of TV and people knowing people through the media, so it is inevitable that large numbers of people in the general public think they know will start dying and put people in touch with there own mortality, how temporary this little life is, and people will be forced to start looking past death, the big picture.

People will also see the wealth and fame is not that great and should not be the goal.

Michael Jackson's, miserable, weird life should teach people something because he is at the very top of material success. Life without death is impossible, no matter how rich, how famous, how renowned someone is.

Rest in peace MJ; your music will always be with us in spirit.

Yes he was a Jehovah Witness. From people I know who are Jehovah Witness, they have a funeral usually at the Kingdom Hall. Not sure if JW do the same thing :confused3?

I was talking with a friend of mine tonight, who is a family attorney. She said that even though Debbie Rowe gave up her parental rights, with Michael's death, she will now have the opportunity to petition for custody again. That doesn't mean that she'll automatically get it, but she has the right to petition now. If she's had visitation in the past, that will improve her chances. I do recall when the child molestation claims first came out, she tried to fight for custody, but later dropped it (probably didn't have the money to fight him).

This is correct. And the courts normally look to the mother first. Rigiht now the kids are with Michael Jackson's mother.

MJ was not an active JW he started studying Islam. We have funerals at the hall. A talk is given by an elder. Loved ones and friends can speak about the deceased if they wish.

Why does it matter if people get upset? Because YOU didn't care for him? Your feelings are your feelings. And everybody else's is theirs. If you didn't care for him, then why are you in this thread? Not being sarcastic, I really want to know.

They were saying on the news that his mom will probably get the children, but it will be up to the will and the courts. Since Debbie Rowe gave up her rights and has said she didn't want any part of raising them she won't be high on the list. Geraldo says that we need to expect the Custody Dispute from hell over these kids. They are worth $$$$$$. With the royalites from his music and the Beatles the only reason he has been broke is because of his spending habits. Once he isn't around to spend it those kids will have megabucks attached to them. Whoever has them has control of the money. I sure hope they can find a loving stable home and some bit of normalcy.

I somehow doubt the funeral will be a "quiet, private" JW style thing. These are still the Jackson's first and foremost! There will be a huge, public, celebrity filled ceremony of some sort I would think.

And no, Jeff Goldblum and/or Harrison Ford didn't die today. Only Farrah and MJ.

Corey Feldman issued this statement:

"I come to you today with great sadness, acknowledging the loss of the greatest entertainer in the history of mankind. For me he was more than that, he was my idol, he was a role model, he was someone to cry to when my childhood was unbearable, he was a brother, he was a dear friend."

I only post this because of the post about Feldman someone had posted earlier.

How did the Jeff Goldblum, Harrison Ford rumor start? i love them both!

Such a sad day. RIP Farrah Fawcett and MJ.

I still am in shock when I see "Michael Jackson dead" on television. :sad1:

I guess then that the lawyers will be making out big time with all the lawsuits that are about to happen concerning the childrens guardians. I hope he had a clear cut will that stated who gets his children after he passed. Debbie Rowe could petition but i think she'd be in court for years.
