UPDATE: Marathon Relay Partner Thread---Relay full

Hi -
I'm getting close to committing to the relay and I think I may have found a partner on a different running Disney thread - but I had a few questions about the relay and how it works.

Does each runner get their official race time (meaning could I look up my net race time somewhere after the race)?
Do the relayers actually pass something off between eachother?
How do they do the "hand-off"? Do they really wait until the specific relay-er finishes before they send off their teammate? How does the second team member know when they can start? Do they have to find their partner?

Thanks in advance!

From last year's W&D Relay.......

Runner A enters exchange area after going over timing mat that stops timing. There was no real passing of a baton. Runner B meets with runner A and proceeds to exit exchange area. Runner B passes over mat to start timing.

Results posted were for Runner A's Time, the time it took from when Runner A passed over entrance mat to the time it took Runner B to pass over starting mat thus providing a separate Exchange Time and then Runner B's Time.

Runner A--------1:05:50

Exchange Time--0:02:10

Runner B--------0:56:25

Total Time------2:04:25

I too am wondering about the logistics before I commit to signing up with a stranger. How does the pass off work? What time will the 2nd leg runner need to be at the "hand off" area? It will really suck if the 2nd leg needs to be there at the same time and then have to wait 2-4 hours depending on the first leg runner time.
How about for packet pick-up? Would we need to do that together? Would we really need to meet at all?

I am doing the wine and dine relay with a friend so I will see how that goes...but according to their website for that race you have to be in the corral section for runner 2 30 mins after the race starts (by 10:30 pm) and once runner 1 finishes they are taken to the medals/food/medical tents ect and runner 2 will be corraled to start running...so I assume they call your number or flash it on a screen for when the first runner is finished and you are able to begin...I do not believe there is an actual passing of batons or anything like that.

Might as well post, like Maura said, its not a commitment, just 'putting it out there'.

I'd like to do the relay. I'd prefer the second half as I am doing the Donald on Saturday.

Expected finish is 3:00.

Thanks - that's helpful!

So, yet another Canadian is looking for a relay partner. If I can, I would love to connect with someone in the Ottawa area - so we can meet in advance of the relay transition point ;)

I'd be happy to run either leg. My normal 1/2 time is 1:56 to 2:03. I suspect my target goal will be around 2:00-2:10 - depending on how hard I run Donald the day before, and the course traffic.

From what I have heard (and I have no idea if it is accurate) the exchange point will be in the parking lot behind the Polynesian since this is pretty much the halfway point. I am doing the second leg and staying at the Poly so I hope to just be able to walk over. This is essentially the TTC area so maybe those doing the second leg will be told to make their way to the TTC. I don't think the busses will be running in that area at that time. I'm hoping this is the case. The only reason I am doing the second leg is because I will be doing the Donald on Saturday and I don't want to get up super early 2 mornings in a row.

abirdd I'll add you to the list

Jeanne Did you get someone to run with you? If so, great! I will update.

So people should feel free to PM others on the list to make matches. I think when the event gets closer to filling up, I may try a little matchmaking.

Oooops...... sorry, Maura, my husband decided to join me. Of course we will be the slowest team ever, but as long as we finish it's all good. Thanks for organizing this.

I am thinking of doing the relay. I'm looking for a partner. I'm not going to be picky over which leg. I am doing the half the day before though. I'm not sure if there is anyone around the Boston area who would want to become partners. I'm guessing I would be finishing around 3:00.

Maura,
I believe celicababi03 and I are going to partner for the relay. Thanks for setting up this thread.

Lori and Nicole I've added you tot he list. Check it out and PM someone that might be a match.

Todd Glad you find a partner. See you there!

Still kind of on the fence, but man is that medal caling to me.. So ..

Looking for someone to run leg 1.

I am a plodder, so extra time would be nice lol (and someone who isn't looking to set any records)

Lori I'm also looking for a partner. Don't know if your interested or not. I should take a little bit longer than you will for the half, but I'm also going off of where I am now.

Would it be possible to get a "roll call" of sorts - essentially, who's still seeking a partner? I'm hoping to get my Relay versus Goofy plans nailed down ASAP, and feel bad botherig people on the list to learn they've opted to forgo the run or already have a partner. Just don't want to pester anyone :goodvibes

I am trying to connect with the SRLFRP members listed to make a match and register for the 1/2 relay. I've tried PM and was blocked??

Let's do it!! How do we register now? One person gets the info and the other sends a check in the mail?

I'm a dope and can't figure out how to PM. When I try, a reply states, "You need 10 posts." Is there a chance you could just e-mail me so that we could make the arrangements to register together?
Thanks :0)
