After years of telling me he'd never have a 3rd dog in the house and that he'd divorce me if I brought one home (all kidding of course), hubby just sent me an email asking if I was interested in a 3 month old lab/pit mix male. A woman had gotten it for her college daughter, but found out that any pit mix wouldn't be permitted.

Our oldest dog is a lab/pit mix, and we're definitely looking for another big dog. I only saw a tiny blurry picture of the dog, but I'm seeing more lab possible great dane or something. I could be wrong, but he doesn't look as much pit as my dog does.

Wish me luck and also wish me brains over heart! I want to be very objective with this pup and see what his temperament is before I make any decisions. We've proven we can handle a dominant dog, but the next dog I get, I want it to be calm and submissive!

ETA: We got her! She's not a male, she's a female. Have no idea what she's mixed with, but she's a sweetie. The woman we got her from said we could bring her back if she didn't get along with our dogs. Well, no fear. The three of them have been playing like best friends since we brought her in the house!

Now I need a name. Pictures to come.

Good Luck! But how will your head still work when you meet a little bundle of puppiness?? :lovestruc :lovestruc

I think Mushy will have a new family member! Let us know how it goes...

We adopted a black lab/pit bull mix when we were in FL in July of last year. I have always had dogs, all mixed breed and I have to tell you, this dog is the smartest I have ever had. Our vet did say that we should not tell everyone that she is pit bull, you can't tell when you look at her but once in a while I do see it.
She learns tricks in minutes honestly, we show her a trick and she masters it within two or three tries. my son's favorite is when they point thier finger at her and say "bang" dog drops to the ground, it is too funny.
She was the easiest dog to housebreak too.
We drove hme from Fl with her and although she was only 6 weeks old she never messed in the car, did what she had to do when we got gas or stopped for food.
And she is so protective of my grandson, her "owner". She sleeps in his room every night. When she is in her own bed when we go out she chews up her bedding but the bed she has in his room is left alone because that is her real bed.
I wouldn't hesitate if I could find another dog like her
