I wanted to update for all of those that took the time to show their support for our situation last week.
I got a call from the SpEd Director for our school district this morning. He apologized over and over again for what happened on Friday. He admitted that the district staff was at fault and said that there was no excuse for what had happened. He agreed that DD's IEP is documented to indicate the level of care, assistance and monitoring that DD needs. He is meeting with other department heads to ensure that this doesn't happen again. He told me that he was just told about the other incidents that happened to DD and said he was sorry for that as well.
He told me that they will take care of all of the expenses involved with getting the hearing aid repaired or replaced. He even offered to pay for mileage to and from the audiologist but I told him that wasn't necessary.
I explained to him that our concern is not only with the financial aspect of everything that she has but with her safety. He agreed and gave me his word that he will address these issues as well and get back to me within the next day or two. It's still unclear if it was the bus staff or the Best Buddies staff.
My intent is not to violate any rules since the first thread was closed. I just wanted to update without having to send PM's to everyone. If this is a problem, I ask that the mod's close/remove this thread as well.
Thanks again to everyone that cared!
