Update 9-11 MCS!...Can we keep it a surprise???? Our June trip to WDW w/ pics

A little off topic....

I am starting this weekend to strip the wallpaper in the baby room... aka packing central. I really don't want to do baby, rather something he can grow into. We are going with a red, white and blue color theme... thinking we can make it more like him when he comes.. you know train, cars, sports.I am sticking with my neutral bedding... but have a dresser that can be painted as well as a bookshelf.. However I have no idea what to do in regards to the wall decor for now...so I am spending time surfing the net looking for ideas.

Don't need curtains, their are shutters in the room.

So any ideas appreciated!

Just a few suggestions.... What if you bought a calendar that had Disney characters and you could put some of them in frames and then just change the pictures as the baby gets older and his likes change. OR maybe you can by those wall clings that don't require nails and peel right off and don't destry your wall! Good Luck, I always find it so hard to know what to do!:goodvibes

We are going with a red, white and blue color theme...

I love those colors and that you're not going to do baby. :thumbsup2 My sister did that as well except she did green. Since the quilt wouldn't fit on the crib they got, she hung it on the wall as art. Other than that she doesn't have anything on the walls because they have big furniture in there.

One idea you could use--either paint on the wall or get those decorative letters to spell out his name--always looks good, and that can really grow with him. You could make the letters any of the colors in your scheme.

Another fairly inexpensive and REALLY easy "art project" would be to go to the fabric store and find pieces of fabric that have pictures or scenes on them that are "Boyish"--you can go in so many directions--trains, cars, boats, sports stuff, ANYTHING REALLY. Get small pieces of fabrics in the theme or direction you want to go in, and then frame them in inexpensive matted frames. You could make a collage out of the frames or spread them around the room. Kristi, my sis, is very artistic and often goes around and decorates homes for people--you should see hers!!! She has done this several times before in different rooms, and it looks so great! She has also used wallpaper samples to do the same thing--just tell the people that you need a free sample and then frame that in a matted frame. Let me know if you would like to see examples of how you could do this.

What about getting red and blue acrylic or finger paint and letting the girls paint pictures for their new brother. Then you can frame them up in white and it can be a special gift to their brother.

Ahhh... some suggestions! Thanks so much. Saturday we are starting to get the wallpaper off. Then we will see. I like the WDW idea.. have to look for some stuff... I am also considering a "wall cling" type thing that a friend is selling as a catalog. DH is not too sure, but I like it because it can be up and removed later with ease.

Three weeks from tomorrow we will be in WDW!!!!! I am starting to feel the stress of getting ready and leaving the first day I have off. There is a lot to be done at school between now and then! Plus I think the horrid rain is getting to my spirits!

Wednesday June 11th

This is our second Magic Kingdom Day. I hope that this day can just be a "repeat day." We can see what the girls want to do and hit them, separating as needed. We have no ADRs this day... so counter service it will be. I am sure we will take a break and hopefully last pretty late that night at the park since Thursday we having nothing planned except returning home that night.

Today my girls hit Kings Island with friends and their grandparents before DH and met them up there tonight. I am super excited for Em to get to ride so many rides at WDW... she would ride anything, if only she was a little taller. She does not even make 36 inches yet!
Hannah was again 44 inches... and I think that after a TTA ride she will go on Space Mountain. She is getting pretty brave!

This picture poses a bit of a problem...

Last year at WDW Emily loved the characters... from afar. She would wave and act as if she wanted their attention... and then back off and stay far away. I had hoped this would be over... but this picture above, from last weekend leads me to believe that we are still not so sure about characters!

The bunny is Max, from "Max and Ruby" which my girls love to watch. Em was totally excited... until it was our turn!

So in the next three weeks we need to work on our character phobia.... I want some good pictures!

Poor Em! Ooh I hope Hannah is brave enough to go on SM with you, that will be so much fun! Hannah's face is adorable in that picture!:goodvibes

Oh no!! Poor Em! Hopefully, seeing the Disney characters will be different than the Nick gang. I like Max, but that representation is a bit odd looking!

My kids are the same way about rides. Liam, my little one, would love to ride Splash Mountain. Doug needs a LOT more convincing for such things!

That pic of Em looking away is cracking me up! She is so cute! And how sweet is Hannah? :flower3:

I have no idea how my DD is going to act with the characters. She's pretty bold & loud when we go to Walmart (pointing out the wall & ceiling decorations like barn, eggs, cow, and she yells hi to strangers), so I'm fully expecting her to yell at the characters. :rotfl:

Not sure if this helps you for the room ideas, but I saw a little boy's room once that had a fishing pole above the window (like a valance). It was so adorable.

I know what you mean about this rain--I thought I might go insane this week--actually if you have seen my latest "OCD ULTIMATE" packing list on my PTR you might think I have!! HA HA HA HA HA!!! It is 9am right now and I am smiling out at the sunshine, but I know that it probably won't last long! UGH!!

I am a bit worried about Emily and the characters... we will know right away at Chef Mickey's if we like the characters or not.

I am totally jealous that DH gets to take her on SPACE MOUNTAIN... I so love that ride!

I thought Max was huge... wide and tall, I at least think Em will warm up to the princesses.

Hopefully Em will be a little more character tolerant at WDW!

We are soooo close! :goodvibes

We are so close... and you are almost done with school. I have report cards to think about, orders for next year.... and we are moving rooms. Too much to do, and all I want to do is go!

I see in my future a zillion looking away separated by dad pictures... so I will resort to just Hannah pics probably.

Where was the rain... my backyard is soggy, but we went to a wedding and had good weather. The reception was at Paul Brown.... WOW! Great views on a great night. Tomorrow I have 20+ collegues, spouses and kids coming for a cookout... so I hope we have a dry late afternoon. I want to eat outside on the porch!

As a side... the wallpaper is coming off pretty good. I hope to have it off, the walls washed to get the glue off and the room primed by the end of the week. Perhaps we can get the room painted before WDW. That way I can set up the nursery when we return and get my baby stuff out of my parents basement. That would be great!

I don't know what the meterologists were looking at, but yesterday was GORGEOUS!!! I bet the bride and groom were relieved they were wrong!! WOW--I didn't know you could book a reception there!!! I bet it was beautiful--especially since it ended up being such a nice day! I hope today turns out to be just as nice!! (Tom, my dad, Kristi's hubby Justin, and my brother Mike are all going out golfing today on a tournament--I know they are praying for good weather again!!) Glad to hear that the wallpaper is coming off so well!! Good luck getting everything done before you leave--I think you can definitely do that! Have a great time today at your cook out! Jen

I know exactly what you mean -- I have finals to give, projects to grade, final grades for report cards, a student to test for the gifted program, Connor's awards program, Chelsea's fifth grade graduation, and our awards program, and all I can think about is what needs to be done to get ready for WDW!

Hi there just found your PTR not caught up yet, but it is great!
What a beautiful family and congrats on the new addition coming soon!! :goodvibes

Another great day so far... I bet your golfers got it in! I think that we can get the room done perhaps next weekend...

Hannah's last day of school is tomorrow, but no big event with that, then gymnastics has its big program Tuesday night.... but that is nothing compared to how busy you are with bigger school age kids!

Welcome! Thanks for joining in. We are at OHana's on Sunday night at 6:35.. can't wait!

Emily knows... she does not have a clue, or so I thought......

Letting the cat out of the bag.......

So often times I tell Emily things because, well she is 2 and forgets things and does not tell. However this morning when I got her dressed I said Emily in three weeks we will be at WDW! She gave me her whatever look... and said "go to Kings Island."

So then at lunch we were all eating and I said to Hannah mommy only has 19 days until she is done with school for the summer. What should we do on mommy's first day off? (Of course... we will be at WDW, we leave early that morning, but she does not know!)

Guess who chimes in... Em. "We are going to Walt Disney World," huge grin and all. I almost lost it, DH just stared at me... and Hannah thought she was crazy.

So while Em told the truth... Hannah still has no idea that what Em said is real! In less than 20 days we will be in WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:goodvibes What a smart cookie!

On Mother's day my 16 month old nephew came to visit my grandma while I was there. He was wearing white sneakers and stomped on my grandma's foot (she was wearing white sneakers too) Basically he was saying that they had the same shoes on...them lil ones are smarter than we think!

:goodvibes :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:
