Up, down and all around...a trip we will NEVER forget - COMPLETE 1/19

I've caught up again after being MIA for a few days, being sick really interferes with my DISing!

Henry is just adorable and I love his name, it's always been on my favorite boy names. Poor little guy with being sick but it didn't seem to phase him at all. I hope that is the last time he is sick while on your trip.

I haven't tried Chef Mickey's yet but it sounds like you had a great experience there. :goodvibes

Love all the awesome photos of Pop, you got some very unique shots and I love the family picture.

Oh, sorry to hear you have been sick! :sad2: I have not gotten caught up on your TR either--going to Disney really interfers with my DISing! ;)

Thank you for the compliments on my little boy! And you are right, being sick didn't phase him for a second, which made it much easier to handle.

And thank you for the compliements on my pics too! It was fun using our new camera to play with the settings and try some new things. I just posted our check-in at WL, so I posted the first shots we got of WL...so many more to come! I need to get over to your light thread too and share the love. :goodvibes

I completely agree with you about the chaos of Pop to the serene calm of Wilderness Lodge. We spent 4 nights at Pop and 3 nights at WL last trip and WL was so much more relaxing. The Pop food court had me on edge everytime we went in there. :lmao: It will be awhile before I go back to Pop. Enough time for me to forget the chaos. ;)

Now that you write that, I do recall what you wrote about when you switched over to the WL, you guys even slept better at WL than Pop, which totally makes sense to me!! I'm glad I'm not alone...it was just completly crazy. I think if we do end up back there ever, I'll just be more aware to go in off meal times, or brace myself for the chaos and leave Joe and Henry outside! No more navigating a stroller though there!

I have a confession to make.

I made this ticker about an hour ago:

http://www.**************/id/1232427577.png

Yes, that does say 1 MONTH, AND 28 DAYS.

And yes....it's true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not gonna give any more details though. The TR will explain it soon.

(i'm evil, aren't i?)

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Oh my goodness!! I am so excited for you and yes you are evil, in a completely Disney Related way. :rotfl2:

I was thinking if I can manage to get one to replace Daniel's lost one, I will set it up around the tree so it is going when we return home after Christmas. Unfortunately Disneyshopping.com does not have it (I was really hoping to use the 25% off plus the 15% Visa Discount!). I'll figure something out, maybe e-bay

Oh, and MeMom, that colandar was almost the only kitchen item I bought myself. I don't know why it calls my name so much!

not wanting to hijack Brookelizabeth's report, but I think this might help you:

What? One month and 28 days?? :thumbsup2 You keep leaving us with these cliffhangers!!!!:lmao: I totally know what you mean about the contrast between the value and deluxe. We stayed for one night at All-Star Sports, the last night of Pop Warner h-e-double-hockey-sticks, and moved to AKL the next day and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I think I became a deluxe snob too. Unfortunately I don't have a deluxe pocketbook - so we're going to try out a moderate for the next trip (that would be the one that DH doesn't know about yet :scared:). I am so glad that Henry is feeling better and that you or your DH didn't come down with it next! I'm loving the pace of the updates - keep it going! :thumbsup2

Isn't the WL incredible?

:lmao: "in a completely Disney Related way" too funny!
We are waaaay excited too! And wondering what our friends and families reactions will be when we tell them!

How cool! That is awesome, no worries on the hijack-good to help a DISer out! :thumbsup2 (and hijacks are half the fun too!)

I bet a moderate will be very nice, I've heard so many wonderful things about the PO resorts. Hopefully your DH will be on board by the time the trip comes up!

I hope I can keep up the pace - I've already gotten through the end of this day written-so it's just a matter of having the time to deal with Photobuket and all that.

Awesome!

Isn't the WL incredible?

Awesome, and CRAZY! We are a bit dumbfounded about it still!

And YES! The WL was so, so amazing!

Brookelizabeth, great update!! I totally can understand now why you would not want to return to POP. I guess you actually turned me away as well :scared1: May I ask at what time you went for breakfast there? And how busy was the bus then, it sounds like this must have been crazy, too! The parks are sometimes so crazy, I really don't want lots of hectic at the resort as well.

The WL pictures are great. I guess we must be glad that you had this incident with your old camera - the new one makes fantastic pictures. However, I must say, it's your talent as well. You definitely have an eye for good pictures! :goodvibes

1 month and 28 days sounds absolutely fantastic!! I nearly booked a trip for January as well - for about the same time frame. I hope you have a very fantastic trip!!

You are going back! That's awesome!

Henry sure looks like a big boy sitting in that rocking chair.:cutie:

What I wouldn't give for a good game of Oregon Trail right now. I was always the banker.

OMG - you're going back in less than two months?!!!!

WOOHOO!!!!:cool1: :cool1: I can't wait to hear all the details!

Loved the WL photos! Bought back some memories - Lauren and I stayed there in June. And, yes, Roaring Forks is small and yes, it works when it's that empty. But wait until you see it at lunch hour - doesn't work so well then!

oh my gosh..the cliff hangers are killin me!!...i want more i want more:hyper: haha

i do believe someone posted something about you possibly having a second career as a soap opera writer ..they are right!
Can't wait to read more though.

btw-Henry at Chef Mickey's was absolutely adorable..he is a kisser huh? good luck when he gets older:rotfl2:

It is silly that the bathroom was downstairs...in a kids resturant! :confused3

That is awful about having to wait an hour! I forgot about that from your TR. Poor Nic on the proposal, ugh, he must have been a wreck about all that!

It would be nice to just bring a Pack & Play with us next time, but with all these baggage fees, we'll just have to deal. Hopefully we won't have to go through anything to quite this extent again though!

I know! I was like "Seriously?" when the girl told me where it was "Down that scary hall with no decoration and down those creepy stairs? What the hell? Isn't this DISNEY?! The mecca of awesomely decorated everything?!"

Henry was our alarm clock the next morning, we woke up to him babbling to himself and peeking over the top of the Pack & Play. It was adorable seeing his smiling face peering over the side. :goodvibes Joe pulled him into bed with him while I got up to shower.
We are pushing a stroller, balancing a tray with food and milk on it, and carrying two refillable mugs. Along with this we have our shoulder bags and a diaper bag. In the midst of the entire guest count of Pop Century.
This picture doesn’t fit in with the story very well, but it’s too cute. Since Henry had hated his sandals the night before, I opted for his Cars Crocs. Stinkin’ cute.
We actually own the computer in the upper right hand corner still. It's a vintage Mac. It still works! Oregon Trial anyone?

I LOVE waking up to Jacques like that! SO ADORABLE!

I totally sympathize with carrying all that stuff! It's SUCH a hassle!

Those shoes are ADORABLE! I may just have to pick up a pair... Where did you get them?!

OREGON TRAIL! OH MY GOD! What a blast from the past. My grandparents had that same Mac, and we always playing Oregon Trail. Dysentary tended to kick my butt.

I have a confession to make.

OH MY GOD! DON'T KEEP US IN SUSPENSE!

At least hurry up and finish the TR! Or tell us which resort! Or something!!!

Remember how you guys were, hassling me to get to the ring on mine? Yeah, PAYBACK TIME! :rotfl:

I'm so EXCITED! Another TR with HENRY!!!

And can you get over Jay's?!?! Man, her trips are always blow-me-down amazing.
How sweet are you!? I am VERY much enjoying reading about your trip (although I feel really badly for poor little Henry). It's not even right that someone so cute could be sick at WDW! He is just a little doll! I love the picture of him chewing on Mickey's nose. I am so glad that he loved the characters!

I cannot wait to hear more about your trip! And I understand about finding the time for the whole photobucket uploading/sorting/turning pictures etc thing. But you do know that your fans are waiting, right?! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to hearing more. AND for that ticker to be explained! Who ever thought someone would leave trip report readers with a cliff hanger?! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: *Wink, wink*

Wow! Your trip report is great so far (although I hope Henry felt better after his busy first day), and has me missing WDW soooo much! I can't believe you're going back in less than two months! That is so stinkin' exciting! I am so stinkin' jealous!

We stayed at the Pop, but made an effort to not eat at the food court. We tried the tie died cheesecake because I had read good things about it, but it was just eh. We spent one of our days traveling around to he different hotels and PO Riverside and French Quarter both seem VERY nice! We've decided to stay at Riverside on our next trip.

Can't wait to read more!

1 month and 28 days sounds absolutely fantastic!! I nearly booked a trip for January as well - for about the same time frame. I hope you have a very fantastic trip!!

We ate breakfast that morning probably around 8:30 or 9:00 am. So, it wasn't bright and early, but I think I would aim for more 9:30 am/10:00 am in the future. Or, do a grab & go. The pool is right outside of Classic Hall, and there are tables near-by, so maybe grab and then relax outside.

The bus, amazingly, I don't recall being busy at all. It was a pleasant ride each time to and from Pop - and GREAT music! :thumbsup2 They played a really excellent assortment from the decades. I was always singing along...poor other passengers. ;)

I agree with you - the parks are busy enough, I like a quiet hotel.

Thank you for the compliments on the pictures! The camera is a lot of fun to play with, I got some neat WL pictures later in the week that I will be sharing. I am happy to get back into my photography hobby, I used to do a lot with film.

I am still in a daze about the January trip. It has half hit me...I know we have to get our ducks in a row quickly and figure out ADRs and buy airfare (which is really cheap surprisngly!).

You are going back! That's awesome!

Henry sure looks like a big boy sitting in that rocking chair.

What I wouldn't give for a good game of Oregon Trail right now. I was always the banker.

I said the exact same thing about Henry in that chair while taking that picture! I immediatly told him after "Now get out!", just teasing of course! It's exciting and heartbreaking at the same time to watch my baby grow up!

I wonder if they make a Oregon Trail download for today's PCs? Hmmm...

OMG - you're going back in less than two months?!!!!

WOOHOO!!!! I can't wait to hear all the details!

Yes! I can't hardly believe it though! I want to get to the TR point where I can explain everything, but I might burst before then. We'll see. ;)

We ended up hitting Roaring Forks during one breakfast rush and had to sit at a little table outside in the hallway-and that took walking around twice to get. It was sooooo tiny in there, and the options are very limited-which is a definite drawback to it all. I have heard rumors of them expanding it though...who knows if they ever will...

oh my gosh..the cliff hangers are killin me!!...i want more i want more haha

i do believe someone posted something about you possibly having a second career as a soap opera writer ..they are right!

I learn my cliff hangers from the best (see jaycns below!) :rotfl: Her cliffhangers will kill ya!!!! I will admit though, the January trip IS a very good cliff hanger...and that day isn't coming up right away. I just had to tell ya'll about the trip and get the ticker on my siggy, I couldn't resist!

And :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: about Henry's kissing! Yes, he IS a kisser! Eeep...what is age 13 going to be like?!?! ;)

I know! I was like "Seriously?" when the girl told me where it was "Down that scary hall with no decoration and down those creepy stairs? What the hell? Isn't this DISNEY?! The mecca of awesomely decorated everything?!"

I'm so EXCITED! Another TR with HENRY!!!

:rotfl: I totally didn't realize at the time that hallway was so little and undecorated to the bathroom, but you are right! It was like you were going down the back hallway to the maintenance room or something. I was in such a freak-out mode about the "Chef Mickey's Incident" that I didn't really pay attention to anything, except that I had to go downstairs to get there. All this makes it even more bizzare!

The Cars Crocs are from Payless! Cheapies! :thumbsup2

"Dysentary tended to kick my butt." :rotfl2: I laughed out loud at that one...:rotfl2:

And yes, I do remember the ordeal on your TR about the ring, it's all anyone wanted to hear about! Thankfully you will find out before the very end of the trip, but you do have to wait through Sunday (Epcot), Monday (DHS) and Tuesday (AK) to find out. I'll try to type fast though. And, chances are I'll burst at the seams and leak it all out before hand...!

Your trips are INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!! I tell DH about your updates all the time. "Remeber the gal who surprised her kids with another week at GF conceriage? This year they had Mickey show up at a private luncheon, and Idaho Jones, AND rented a private yacht that took them to MK!" I can't wait to read all about the cruise too-that one is hot on my radar for sometime when Henry is about 5. :yay:

Thank you for the compliments on my little guy! Your little man is adorable beyond all words as well. All your boys are! Your Aladdian is gonna have girls hot on his tail pretty soon I bet (if he doesn't already!). Such handsome men! I love that you have a household of boys too, if/when we have more children, I would love to have all boys!

And yes, I learn my cliff hangers from the BEST! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more

Coming soon, probably tomorrow afternoon!

Wow! Your trip report is great so far (although I hope Henry felt better after his busy first day), and has me missing WDW soooo much! I can't believe you're going back in less than two months! That is so stinkin' exciting! I am so stinkin' jealous!

Ooooh, very good idea on avoiding the food court. That is what did me in. Otherwise Pop was so much fun!! I wasn't expecting much, and it really blew me away. I can see why people love it there so much!

I totally forgot about the tie-dyed cheesecake until we were on our way out. I was kinda bummed because it's so iconic for that resort. Funny this is, I looked through the cases several times, and read all the menu boards and never even saw it. :confused3

I've heard so many great things about POR! It's SO PRETTY!!!!!!!!

When DH said "January" for our trip, I said "As in January 2009, January?" :scared1: I think he's become more addicted than I even!! ;)

Wilderness Lodge will be the first deluxe we stay in, when we are able. For now, it is value for us, and we're fine with that. We like Pop, and we're usually up and already at the parks before the food court chaos ensues, so it's not a real problem for us.

The Lodge is just awesome, isn't it?!?!? We will be going over there this week to get pictures of it all dressed up for Christmas, and it is even more inviting when it has on its holiday clothes! :santa:
What a perfect Christmas morning it would be to go out and gaze at that tree and then go sit by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate.
Heaven, I tell ya!

Wilderness Lodge is just gorgeous! I would have to agree that Pop is a bit noisy -- breakfast when we were there was crazy busy and I was twitching by the end of it!

I can't believe that you are going back in less than two months!!! Details, please!

Lovin' the trippie! Glad you were able to still enjoy Chef Mickey's. Great pics! Henry is sooo adorable! Can't wait to hear more about the next trip! Glad you are taking advantage of your new ownership!
