I am in a TR writing frenzy lately and you are reaping the benefits of updates coming at you fast and furious!
Last I left you we had just been directed to our room in the 50’s section of Pop Century. As we ventured around Classic Hall we were instantly in awe of just how neat Pop is! As we followed the handy map to our room we took a few pictures.
Those giant bowling pins were so neat!
Another picture of the bowling pin.
Please ignore the head in the foreground. I love the giant dancers on the outside of the 50s buildings.
There is the giant juke box! Our room is close!
These pool chairs looked inviting, but ONWARD to the room!
We easily found our room on the third floor behind the giant juke box, and FINALLY! We were officially here! Ahhhhhhhhh!
Ahhhhhhh! So happy!
We examined the room, to ensure it was clean, it was, aside from 2 hairs I found on the bathroom floor
...I let it slide and didn't allow myself to wig over it. We checked out all the details in the room...
Mickey Heads on the bathroom wallpaper.
Henry loved the full length mirror. Joe loved the fun tile floor.
Happy to be at our happy place.
Really fun wallpaper.
Our view outside our door (to the right was a parking lot, but mostly covered with trees).
So far Henry is loving WDW!
I liked the retro chairs.
We dropped our carry-ons and 329 other items and of course had to turn on Stacy. A trip hasn’t started without her, right?
The many faces of Stacy.
We soon declared we were HUNGRY. The plans said to eat at Everything Pop and then head to DTD for the Festival of the Masters, and a DIS Meet at 5:00 at the ESPN Club. Then a Chef Mickey’s ADR at 8:50 pm. So off to Everything Pop!
As soon as we entered back into Classic Hall, Joe asked “Where is the food court?” and thankfully, to my research on the DIS, I knew it was through the gift shop.
I knew Pop had a good food court, but I guess I just didn’t fully grasp how much variety there was. If you read my PTR, you know that my DH has an eye condition that while he sees clearly, he sees everything smaller. So small print on computer monitors above food stations wasn’t too easy for him to deal with. I am totally used to reading these type of things for him, but man, I kept reading, and reading, and reading at Pop! There were so many choices!
However, as soon as I read “Pepperoni Pizza” I knew I could have stopped. He’s predictable.
After much debate, I chose a Steak Wrap. I got in line behind a nice couple from Wisconsin (we talked weather naturally) who both got the steak wraps, they looked very tasty.
When the CM was making mine, he ran out of cheese, so he disappeared for a minute and then came back with a giant package of cheese slices. Much to my SHOCK they use Bongards brand cheese.
Bongards is located approximately 20 miles from our house in small town Minnesota. It’s Joe’s ultimate favorite cheese, it’s all we use in our house!
We picked up our refillable mugs and eventually made it to a table. It was pretty quiet in the eating area, only a handful of others, plenty of tables open.
I have to say, my steak wrap was just “eh”. I am not a huge fan of cheese, and when I saw them putting 3 slices on the wrap, I should have known to stop them, but I was wrapped up in chatting with the CM (more about weather), and it just didn’t click. Joe gladly ate what I didn’t and enjoyed the cheesiness! I would have also liked some onions and peppers on it, but it was just cheese and meat. Otherwise, it was huge and good. The fries were also tasty.
3 slice of cheese Steak Wrap.
Joe and Henry very much enjoyed the Pepperoni Pizza.
Joe's ultimate meal choice.
Messy face=good food!
Now here is where the plans go straight out the window. And prepare…it’s not the most pleasant reason. But, I’ll be gentle.
I had given Henry a couple French fries and Joe had given Henry bits of pizza. He has eaten both of these things in the past without problem; however, I do believe I mentioned on my PTR, just before we left, that Henry had not been feeling the best and had been, uh…well…getting sick from both ends.
Well, it was either the pizza or the fries, but something caused him to throw up. Thankfully it wasn’t everywhere, but it was a decent amount to get his shirt and pants dirty (and quite smelly
). Henry barely even noticed and kept eating, which just made me nervous that he would erupt again. Thankfully he didn’t!
When we left our room, our luggage hadn't yet arrived. We didn’t have an extra outfit in the diaper bag. (Bad planning here!) I did not want to take my smelly, dirty baby to DTD or to a DIS Meet, espeically when there was a chance he might have an aftershock…so, we opted to just enjoy the resort and relax. Which became a good decision. I had REALLY wanted to see the Festival of the Masters and enjoy the art booths, but I was tired, Joe was tired, Henry was smelly…
