Unused meals

I've never used the DDP so this might be a stupid question but what happens if you don't use all the meal within the say 5 day plan you picked.

Here's why:
We are coming down to WDW. We are staying 5 days. If we get a Premuim plan it gives us 3 meals a day. Total of 15 meals.
But then after that 5 days we will change resorts and stay another 4 days longer but without the meal plan this time with grandparents with.
If we don't use our 15 meals in the first 5 days, is it possible to use them
then the next 4.
Is it a punch card? which then might be able to be used.
Or credit card that would next come up void after the 5 days?
Would that work? Or would unused meals just expire.

They will expire at midnight on the day you check out of the first resort so you will not be able to use them on later days.

Any unused meals will expire at midnight on your check out day of the 5-day period for which they were purchased. They will be tied to your room key card, similar to a credit card. they cannot be used after midnight on your check out day.

Your dining credits expire at mid-night on the day you check out. They will not carry over to your next reservation.

Have you considered downgrading to the basic plan?

Are you giving a credit card or punch card or what?
And yes we probably will down grade our plan.
just checking options.

The day you check out you can use that room key till midnight.

Do an late bkfst/early lunch....then a signature that night. That should get rid of them.

To be slightly picky - your room key just has a link to your reservation number. The actual info is stored in a central computer. By doing it this way, any person in the room can access all the credits.

No punch card. The data is electronically stored and can be accessed by restaurant personnel using your room key.

The dining plan data on the card will expire at midnight of your checkout day and cannot be further accessed after that time.
