If I understand the wording at mousesavers...I can prepurchase a hopper pass and then transfer the FULL amount of it towards an annual pass anytime during the hopper visit. So does this mean I can use 4 days out of 5 and then change to an AP on the 5th day for only the price difference b/w the hopper and the AP?

THANKS

PS...if anyone is going at 4th of July weekend and not using their full 5 day hoppers, please PM me as we are searching for couple days the following week.

However, unless they've changed their policy, the AP will start on the date the hopper pass was first used, not the date it was upgraded, so you really don't gain any days doing this.

I think the only advantage would be that you could possibly get in to DL on blockout days and then upgrade to an AP with block out dates (such as the Deluxe). For example buy a hopper, go Sat and Sun then upgrade to a Deluxe that has Sat and Sun blocked out in Summer (I think it's still blocked out then). However I'm not sure if this would work, they could make you only upgrade to a Premium since it was used on block out days (don't know if they do this, but it wouldn't suprise me).

If you haven't bought your hoppers yet (or even if you have) I suggest you give them a call and check to make sure.

Also you will be credited the price paid for the hoppers. If you got them on some special at a good price, (say the pay for 3 get a 5 day deal I know they have previously had) then you only get a credit for the price paid (the price of a 3 day hopper, not a 5 day hopper). So really if you know you want an AP there really isn't much of an advantage (except if the above example about the block out dates is true).

Also just because the policy is one way today doesn't mean it will be that way next month or even tomorrow. A few years back we talked to them about upgrading our passes, and were told the current policy. A month later when we decided to upgrade they had changed the policy.

Also I know when they had the Magic Kingdom Club years ago, my aunt bought my cousin an AP (this when when they only had 2 types). He got a MKC discount. A few months later he decided to upgrade, and he no longer got the discount MKC price. It was kind of weird. It was something like regular price was 99 for regular and say 149 for Premium (don't remember the exact prices) with MKC discout it was 89 and 139. He paid 89 for his AP, and when he upgraded he had to pay 60 instead of 50.

Yes, we are looking at it specifically to get in on blockout dates w/the hopper and then upgrade at the end. I know you only get the price paid, but it beats us paying $40/person for the day passes for the weekend (times six people=$240).

We don't mind losing the few days at the end b/c it retro's back to the first day of the hopper....we live 1200 miles away from DL so I don't think we'll be there every weekend anyway! We KNOW we are doing the west coast cruise in May so I would like to be able to go into the park before or after our cruise so an AP would allow us to do that.

This is true still.

Here's how it worked for me last year:

I wanted to upgrade our 5 day PHP for the Deluxe Annual. The last day we were there was a blackout day. I used the PHP to get into the park, went to the AP processing office and had no trouble upgrading at all. The full value of the PHP was applied to the AP, so it cost about $40 at the time. I was given a special entry ticket that would allow me to exit/reenter DL or DCA that day, as it was a blackout day for the AP but my original entry ticket would have allowed the parkhopping.

The AP was backdated to the first date the PHP was used.

That was May2003. We were back at DL in February 2004, so we used our APs then and definitely got our money's worth out of the upgrade cost. We'll be doing the same thing this year, when we're there in December and then back again next summer (although will probably upgrade to the Premium AP)

Now, possibly because I'm in Canada, I have NEVER received any of the AP mailouts, or even a renewal notice.
