When my parents moved into their current home, it was in a newly developed area. Well one time we had a problem with mice!! We could hear them scurrying inside the walls and we found one or two in the pantry and in the garage. We set up traps and caught them in the garage. Well one day I was putting on my shoes to leave for school and I felt something in my shoe. I took my foot out and saw there was a live mouse in it and freaked out of my mind and screamed!!! :scared1:

Apparently all the neighbors had problems and it wasn't just us. :sad2: We called the exterminator and they haven't had mice since. Although, my mom told me that they have a large tree out front and rats were climbing up and getting into their attic. The rats would die and one time maggots hatched and started falling on my brother's head as he was taking a shower!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

The exterminator came back, set traps up there, removed any dead rats and he also closed off the area so they can't get back in.

aww shawna its ok...I completely agree with you on your frustration...I hate the way the people who impliment the educational system act and react to things....want me to come down there and kick her ssa???on my way

If getting Jake in the charter school will help you get Morgan in.. I would do it!

I know it sucks for tranportation, but it's a small price to pay since you are not happy with the current school.

Having a principal that the staff detests is not good -- the more talented teachers don't want to handle the crapola and move on.Causing a revolving door of disgruntled and mediocre staff that could care less about doing a good job... eeek!

I like using the great schools rating.. I have two districts picked out for our move back.. one has a 10/10 rating the other 9/10 :cheer2:

We have open enrollment in MN , but since we are moving end of July the regitration/draw period has already occured. Chances are we won't get a spot unless we move to that district area.

Hi all. this morning I worked at the school, then picked up Jake and took him to the district office to have a chat about kindergarten again. They have no clue whether or not they are going to offer half day in our school next year.

I just dont understand how you could not know. Registration has been open for a month. Surely you have some idea. last year there were 6 half day programs.

I do not need full day. My neighbors son is in full day and is bored out of his mind because its just the same curriculum stretched out over the length of the day with 5 recesses and a lunch.

After I pointed out that each school in our district had 6 half day classes she said well, its convenient for those of us who work. This was said with a ton of attitude.

I was so frustrated I was not going to get into the whole stay at home mom debate with the district secretary in front of Jake but that was just rude. I figured any way I responded to that she would think I was being snobby because I DONT work. I knew I would get no where with her. :headache: :headache: :headache: So I'll just wait and see tomorrow night at kindergarten round up.

Not to mention the area I live in has a HUGE population of stay at home moms so I'm not really sure where her comment has merit in why they dont know about half day kindergarten now.

I hate not knowing. then you should have seen the look on the other ladies face when I said, "well, I'm going to register him in a charter school for half day as well just in case you dont offer them here" She looked mortified. We have a tiny district surrounded by the huge Gilbert District struggling to survive and it doesnt need any more angry parents believe me. I wish we would annex in with Gilbert because Gilbert can handle the growth that is seen in our area of the valley. Unfortunately our district cannot.

Sorry for the vent. I just get so upset about this.

You should have punched that lady in the cahoots!! She has no right to judge you or anybody else for that matter.

That school sounds VERY unorganized. I don't know how they manage to get by with a poor attitude and unorganization.l :headache:

I know in California they have a law that they must determine staffing lay offs by March 15th, the schools already can predict class sizes and staffing for next year.

It may change a bit after school starts-- but YES they should already now if they are having half day offered. Unless some big budget change is happening ???

Bernice did the principal ever tell your DH anything? has he told them hes moving back?

lol nothing but it came out like thats not a common thing a school and its staff being unorganized....and I was just saying thats a norm...oh yeah and i had already changed the spelling..caught it myself:)

I've never heard of a school being unorganized. That's terrible.

yep you can tell pix doesnt have kids...that very sentence is the epitome of the california education system....
::yes::
There is a diconnect between what is good for students and teachers and what the administration decides.

For example:

Hubby got yelled at by principal for not sending out official mid term progress reports (he did send unofficial ones home with students on his own) --- well his co teachers told him, don't send one.. it's in the teacher contract that they need a half day to prep for reports.

Here he is as a new to the district teacher-- his boss telling him DO THIS while co-workers and his contract dsay DON'T do it (because it makes the other teachers look bad).

Meanwhile, the students get some reports but not all of them.

It's such bureacratic crapola !! Isn't school suppose to be about what's good for the child????????? :confused3

My bf got a review yesterday from his manager. He was given a positive review, got high marks, even received reports from customers and facilities saying he does a wonderful job. He also got positive feedback from the pharmacists. He doesn't even get a raise for his hard work. That sucks! :headache: They don't offer raises unless you quit and want you to stay :sad2:

He didn't get a layoff notice-- he wasn't in the segment of staff that they dismissed to fill the $11 million hole in the budget.

District was informed of which teachers will be non reelect contracts and disciplined.... the prinicipal hasn't talked to him for two weeks now.... I think she has her own problems right now with budget crunching.

The vice prinicipal came in to observe, told him he liked what hubby was doing and would report back ----- I think it's highly amusing that now DH is relaxed, he is excited about teaching again and doing better in the classroom

and no.. he hasn't put in a notice.. we decided it's best to wait it out until the end of his contract term.

Thanks guys! I might call you all in on the beat down after kindergarten round up. I cant imagine I'm the only one who feels this way.

That's lame!

Are they in some kind of budget crisis? Or just really crappy to employees?
Not a way to guarentee good staffing relations:eek:

great job--pat pat.. ok on your way KICK!

G, your toilet-paper spinning girlies are making me... well...

dizzy! :lmao:
