There are some icky parts, but still some nicer parts, too. Depends on where you're looking.

I'm sure that people at DL aren't too happy about it, but we need it really bad. \
And did you know that next week we are going to DL?? From the 13th-16th. Can hardly wait!!! We were there the exact same weekend last year, and it was wonderful. Hope it is again!!![]()

Right in downtown? Not up Smith or James? I don't know of a little hill around there, just the two main drags that go up East Hill.It is.... hmmm... if you take the central ave/84th street exit off 167, and turn by Dennys there.. Right up the little hill is a complex, thats it. So there isnt really anything around it. Just trees.

Hey Dizzy! Its just not the nicest place to live. Dh says the crime is about the same as where we are know... Which is probably true. Here is the real issue. Before I met Alex's dad... in my young and VERY stupid days. I dated a guy from Kent. He was horrid. A gang banger, and a drug dealer, and fairly abusive. my own fault, it was years ago... Totally over. But when ever we go to Kent, I can feel it. KWIM?? I have so many bad feelings from it... I dont know! It is totally stupid. But moving out here, dropping everything from that time in my life... So basically, all these memories, which i pretend arent there... come rolling right back when I drive out there.
Yeah... Im a spaz!

Years ago the Kent school district was very well regarded. I don't know if it still is, but I can find out for you...
Comparison of elem schools in zip 98031 (just guessing on that):

Interesting. One school has the gifted program (I assume it's run like ours, kids from other schools are bused to the school with the gifted program), mostly half-day K program, some full-day. Class size ranges from 18 - 25, quite a wide range.![]()

not even staley...you know I havent been to SD since Tiff was 13 months old because it brings back bad feelings for me....same issue minus the abuse and drug dealer...I was well involved in the whole drug, gang scene...by choice..i was an idiot...anyways I totally get what your saying...
There are a lot of schools, but not really a choice, you are just assigned a school. One of DS7's friends is in the gifted program, so she actually attends a different elem that has the gifted classes.I wouldn't know what to do if I had a choice of schools. Here we only have one school. The only question we have is whether our kids will have some of the same teacher's we did. So far that's happened several times. DD's 3rd grade teacher was DH's 6th grade teacher. One of my teachers is now DD's PE teacher. And so on....
Guess what Californians?? Yep........it's not raining here! Glad you guys are getting some rain though. I would love to go to DL on a day it is raining, I bet hardly anyone is there.
