Sorry to have disappeared on you Christina! I took a late break and had to get back to work. Now I'm on my lunch. I went to my favorite local store. It's a candy and coffee place and it smells wonderful in there! Their counters and most of their store furniture is vintage, which is really cool. Their floors are a dark wood color and they creak when you step in certain spots. It's really cool. They sell coffee and have a coffee bar. They have awesome blended mochas and they cost MUCH less than Starbucks. :thumbsup2 They also make some of their own candy and also sell different gifts.

I went to a scrapbook store next to it and bought some more paper. I still haven't scrap booked my pictures from my last trip. I think I'll do that tonight. :)

Darn, my flowers died over the weekend. I had to throw them out. I put enough water too but I guess it's not good to have them in this office. :sad2:

I made a new sig last night. I took 2 pics and had to edit and erase stuff from them. Hope it looks okay :wizard:

well if you go to bestofbridge.com and then click the recipe link, you can do searches for some delicious recipes or type in honey mustard and it will bring up the honey mustard chicken recipe. I dont' really know if it's low fat because I don't know if mustard or honey are fattening. All that's in it is 1/4 cup of melted butter, 1/4 mustard and 1/2 cup of honey and 1-3 tspns of curry powder. It's quite good. The curry powder adds a bit of bite.
The only part of that recipe that would be fatty is the butter; I wonder what would happen if I left it out? And I don't have curry, but I'm sure it's easy to find these days... Yellow curry?

Doing just the honey and sweet & spicy mustard was very bland, it definitely needed something else. I think I made it once with hot mustard and honey, and it was pretty good... It got very liquidy, did yours too? And the chicken was an unnatural yellow color. :rotfl:

Would be nice for it to have a sort of glaze, mine just turned yellow on the outside and the sauce got very wet from the chicken juice. :confused3

What if you used non hydrogenated low fat margarine? It's only 1/4 cup, I would think it would fine if you didn't put it in.

I just went to the store across the street and grabbed a small thing of mild curry powder and yes it's yellow. I don't know anything about curry but I like the taste it gives to this recipe.

I must be hungry, I'm salivating at your description of the coffe shop. :surfweb: :rotfl:

DS3 and I went to Walmart this morning. Found a cute Halloween sweatshirt for DS3 (orange with a carved pumpkin face on the front, only about $4 or $5!), a few long-sleeve t-shirts and a pair of slick sweatpants for DS7 (GEESH, that boy keeps growing!), long-sleeve tees for me also, and... gee, nothing for DH. Oops!

Also got a few snackish things for the trip; I'm trying not to fill our suitcases with food, since Staley is going to take me to the grocery store when we get there. But I think they're probably cheaper here...

Cute!

OH! And the DIS designers came through today! I re-posted my request and somebody made several versions of the design for DL!!! I'm so excited!

hmmm, might have to try this myself.. here's a recipe (sounds just like Christina's version)
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Curried-Honey-Mustard-Chicken/Detail.aspx

If you notice in the comments, two people left out the butter and added a bit of olive oil instead.

"I cut out some of the fat by using less butter than the recipie calls for and added olive oil to make up for part of the difference. I also doubled the amount of curry"

and
"way too much butter. I use a few tablepsoons of olive oil and whisk it into the mustard mixture, thickens it up nicely. If still too thick, add a little bit of water"

I don't know. A lot of times using margarine (or low-fat margarine) doesn't work out well with some recipes. A 1/4 is what, half a stick? Probably not too bad health-wise... Worth checking out though!

Heyyyy! :teeth:

Oh it's what I use and it's good. I wonder if it would be better if I used real butter?? At any rate I just use margarine from the tub because I haven't found any butter blocks here and it's tastes mmmmm. But I like the idea of splitting it up with olive oil. Olive oil is good for you.

COOL! Yeah, we use canola oil instead of vegetable oil, and olive oil when the oil needs to add some flavor.

I grew up on margarine, so when I first tasted real butter (at my grandparents house, he being a former dairyman) I didn't like it. They were  ! :rotfl:

Now of course I LOVE IT, but it's soooo fattening. I'm sure using real butter would make a richer flavor.

possibly. But non hydrogenated is good for your heart and the recipe still tastes good so I don't think I'll try it the otherway, I'd rather not taste it better or I'll never want it the way I currently like it

That's awesome about the shirts Alex! I'm glad that you were able to get them! :goodvibes I hope they look awesome :woohoo:

I'm glad you found Halloween stuff at Walmart. I know they have really good prices on craft items. That's where I get scrapbook stuff sometimes and other craft items. :thumbsup2

Speaking of fat... or is it phat? :rotfl:

DH had me price out some limo services to/from the airport. I requested quotes from 5 companies last night. One got a quote back immediately (automated), and two others responded this morning. The first was only $50/hour, the other two are in the $85 range, so WOOHOO, we're taking a limo!!!

The only time I've ever been in one was for DH's father's second marriage. It was a lot of fun! Gee, I wonder how much it would cost to take one to the airport from our house? :teeth:

cool! Where are you taking the limo? Is this for when you go to Disneyland?

::yes:: It's dangerous!

I looked at scrapbook stuff there, too, but the prices didn't look any better than Michael's, so I didn't get anything. I did see a few Jolee's Boutique Disney stuff, I love those! But couldn't remember what I already have, so decided not to get the little Cars 3D stickers. Cute, though! I'll go back and get them if we actually do see Lightning McQueen and Mater at DCA. :thumbsup2
