oh Christina! How crummy for you and your dh.
I would show them proof how much it costs for say typical groceries, rent, transportation. Show how it differs and how you are struggling.
Thanks Bernice. I've been worrying over here, how is your dh??
Oh gosh, Christina, DH and DS7 were playing wii baseball on Sunday, and it reminded me of you. DH was pitching and kept complaining about his shoulder. But he didn't stop playing. I just looked at him like this: :sad2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl: Yeah I do that alot. I will shout that my arm is hurting and keep playing. Dh on the other hand gets a bead of sweat and he's done. He doesn't want to hurt himself. But his favorite exercise lately (I must give credit where credit is due) is unwrapping the 10 pack of kitkats and raising them to his mouth. This is the first night in a probably 3 weeks he didn't get kit kats, and that's becaues he went to bed at 7:45 becaues he was tired. I think stressed from having no where to live is more like it.

:rotfl2:

Now that's MY kinda guy! :lmao:

If we ever meet up, you and DH can wii duel and complain, and your DH and I will take care of the kitkats. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Oh, there's dough inside the husk? :rotfl2:

I think I've seen a show (maybe the kids' show Buster?) where they made tamales from scratch, and don't they soak the corn husk in something to make them really soft? I just assumed that's what you wrap the filling in, I didn't realize there was dough. Learn somethin' new every day!
:rotfl2:

yes, they soften the husk.
Slap some masa dough on it (it's a special flour called masa harina, corn flour treated with lime).
Whatever filling (beef, pork, chicken) and sauce (red, green)
Wrap it all up in the husk and steam it.

I've heard of sweat tamales but never tried one (did have a corn filling once, it was ok)

pfft we'll have to see. They keep just saying dh is wrong, that it's not more expensive here. The worst part is the guy who lied to us is from Canada so he should have known better. It's hard to explain your case when they just think you're whining but dh is gathering all his facts and proof and will show to his new boss tomorrow. I hope his new boss will be better because he's born and raised Scottish so he wont' be all like "well when I moved from Canada 10 years ago this is how it was..." we'll see.

PIXTER!!! I havent seen you in ages. It is 9:30pm here. I played wii until my batteries died in the remote. I was so sore today I couldnt move my arm so I thought more exercise would help, and it did! I can move my arm now, but we'll see how it is tomorrow :rotfl2:

That's awful Christina! I agree with FunnyG- send them proof of the cost of living (receipts, bills, etc.). You can make copies and mail or fax it to them. Good luck with the new boss. Hopefully he will be more understanding. :grouphug:

That's not good that you are sore from the Wii. It used to make me and my siblings sore but after that we didn't use such vigorous arm movements and such to play. We all have our own Wii, which is kinda funny. We can have a big Wii party! lol. My older sister had threw a dinner and a Wii party with her friends last weekend. She said it was really fun. :) You should try Wario Smooth Moves. That is the funnest game. I kinda want My Sims and DDR for the Wii. Those look fun :)

Ahhhh, interesante!

Hey, last year we started getting these little mobile restaurants (are they called taquerias?) selling Mexican food. One is parked in a gas station parking lot, not a place I would typically buy food! I wasn't sure if they were legit or not at first, but they must have a license and food handling permits and everything (I think they're still around). I wonder if their food would be any good?

My hubby is fine, no more seizures and he's adjusting to his meds. They put an extra staff person in his room to help out, glad they did because sometimes he's kinda foggy headed.

He emailed me from work, someone turned his phone into the office on Friday, yeah!!!!!

Now I can get them switched to a lcoal number, I needed another phone to have them activate my cell to a new number.

:rotfl: I will have to tell that one to dh tomorrow, that's funny. You'll be given a run for your money though, that man can eat kitkats like there is an endless supply. I think if he thought of it he would stack 4 on top of eachother and eat them like a sandwhich for better efficiency. He bought a ten pack of the mini ones and said we'll share. I had two (only 214 calories total) and he had finished the rest in a matter of SECONDS!!! I laughed and he felt bad so he bought more for me and ate those too :rotfl2: He is gonna get faaaaaaaat if he keeps it up.

:confused3 I've been kinda nervous about those and some of the restaraunts around here-- tempted but want to hear from someone if they are good or not. Here we have hand wheeled ice cream carts, they hang out by the schools after class. Kinda creepy looking.

I think it's funny that no one commented on my misspelling "sweat tamales"

 :rotfl2:

You're right, I don't think I've ever eaten TWO whole ones before. I feel decadent biting into it without breaking apart the little bars! :rotfl:

But he's younger, he probably has better metabolism than I do. But wait until he gets into his 30s, it's KILLER!!! :scared1:

DH used to play a lot of basketball, at least a couple hours a day in college and when he first graduated. Then he had several knee surgeries, twisted ankles and other issues, and the doc and I finally persuaded him to give up hoops. Unfortunately he didn't replace that with some other form of exercise, so he put on a lot of weight.

He carried it until the heart stuff started a couple years ago, but has since lost maybe 30 lbs and I think is right around 200 lbs. (I think in college he was around 180.) That's part of why he coaches the kids, so he can get some exercise without killing his knees. And he goes out for a long walk every evening, which is also great for his heart.

Because we bought our wii in Canada, the UK games won't work in our system so we're going to buy a ton of games when we go to Anaheim to bring back to Scotland. I also want to the sims and DDR, and strikers and the wario smooth moves. Dh wants to get some other ones but I don't remember.

I am so glad to hear that. Did he have memory loss after any of his seizures? My brother does every time he has one, and as mean as it is one time I was really mad at him for having a seizure because he wasn't taking his meds. So I told him he was starting his own business and had to get back to work right away. He was like "Oh crap, are you serious?" :rotfl: He was in the hosipital but ready to get back to work at his unknown business. It was a little mean, but I told him the truth right away. Strangely he took longer that time than normal to get his memory back...I wonder why :confused3 :rotfl2:

All this talk of kit kats, had to go look for sweets. Found Whoppers- clunk clunk out rolls TWO whopper balls. Why can't they just finish it? TWO left and they put it away??? :sad2:

That's great that your DH got his phone back! :woohoo:

Probably because your DH said, "GUYS! You can't eat the whole bag, leave some for your mother." :sad2:

:lmao: I don't eat candy much but sometimes I get a chocolate craving. Last weekend my bf and I went to Target and they had bags of candy 2 for $4. I got a bag of snack sized snickers and he got reese's peanut butter cups. :yay:

At least your DS's and DH didn't use the food saver for the 2 whoppers and then put them away :rotfl2:

ohhhhh that's mean!!
:lmao:

I think he does a little bit, he keeps asking me over and over
How many did I have? (4)
The boys saw one? (yes, Justin helped me move him away from a table).

He told me he was trying to tell the dialysis staff what meds he was on ... he could only remember the Dilantin and forgot his routine meds (that he has been on for years).

I'm so worried about dh's heart, he does zero excercise and eats a load of junk but he refuses to listen to me. I don't buy the junk so he goes and buys it himself, and I can't force him to be active obviously. He is chubby but not fat yet, but I don't know what to do. So I just eat healthy and worry about my own heart. I think he'll come around, hes very competitive so maybe when he see's me dropping pounds he'll want to beat me.

We don't eat much candy either. We have trouble getting rid of the candy after Easter or Halloween, so we send a bunch with DH to work. Those DEV people are vultures, I tell ya, they'll eat ANYTHING!!! :lmao:

But I do buy the mini-size candy to keep in a jar in the kitchen, for when I get a chocolate craving. I love the little Snickers and the mini Hersheys mixed bars. I've gotten more into dark chocolate lately, I must be turning into a grown-up. :lmao:
