Companies are not allowed to add you to multiple lists

If you unsubscribe from a list they have to remove your contact details and are not allowed to add you to another list
Companies can not force you to sign up to email marketing as requirement of purchase
Email marketing has to be opt in not not opt

If a company is reported for breach of these rules they can face fines of up to €20 million.

Awww that's so sweet, must be nice.

Here in the US we are all for sale, no-one protects us from anything ever and the rules are absurd. For example, saving the trees and the landfills, seems this is the mantra right, how come it's a problem for everyone but advertisers who send countless bits of garbage in the mail noone wants and I mean hundreds of bits of unwanted mail every week? How about how bad plastic is for the environment, unless you want signs in the yard declaring you are a pro-environment candidate because THEN it's ok, well that and all the paper in the mail. Robocalling, can't stop it so just mess with the caller and confuse him or her with weird inventive stories, it's an art, we can only get rid of them if the phone number is changed. It's a very strange place to live.

That's what my Hotmail email address is for. Anything that requires an email that might result in much spam goes there. Then I just go there once in a while and look it over and then empty it. I sub to a lot of craft-type and crochet newsletters with my Hotmail and I read those, but some marketing genius assumes that since I do crafts I must be 110 years old. So I get spam for Viagra and support hose. And then of course once you get on a Viagra mailing list here comes the unsolicited dirty stuff. So yeah, I give out my 'real' email sparingly.

I have Gmail and for emails that I might want to see again, (their Black Fri sale, but not the rest of the year,) I create a filter that just automatically deletes them. Then close to Black Fri, I can check my deleted mail or take the filter off of their emails for a while andthey are back in my Inbox.

I prefer Gmail over Hotmail or Yahoo. With those accounts I get a LOT of SPAM that isn't automatically filtered out by their email filters. OR there's a lot of SPAM that is filtered and is cluttering up that folder.

Gmail's filters are a lot better. I almost never get anything in the SPAM folder as I think they pte-filter stuff so well, it never even makes it to the SPAM folder. When I get the occasional 1-2 emails, I can go and take a look at them before fully deleting the folder. So, I can catch the ocassional email, right away, that shouldn't be in there. They are usually the questionable ones by Gmail, so they put it in that folder, but let me see them, so I can make the final decision. My Gmail SPAM folder is almost always empty.

The Vintage Pearl - I ordered from them a couple years ago. Their customer service was so horrible that I would never consider ordering from them again. I've spent 2 years trying to unsubscribe from their emails, but they keep sending them.
