agreed. plus Schmoo is always very patient with newbies like me, even if the same question was just asked within the last hour/day.
Agree! Schmoo is the best

Along with the know-it-alls are those who post when they don't have an answer, eg. "I'll let those in Florida answer this." If you don't have an answer, don't reply.
I better stop now, or I'll get a bad reputation.Have a great night everyone!
No, not you Schmoo. I appreciate your posts. You give a lot of good information without being overbearing and you'll admit your wrong if someone points out different information.![]()
Everyone's contributions matter whether you actually experienced it or learned it through research. As long as you are not making it up, we're good!
Sorry for continuing thediscussion (always wanted to use that smiley!!
), but to me this is what makes discussion boards so great: the insight from many different voices. If I just want to read one person's experience and opinion, then I read a blog. On a discussion board you get a lot of different view points. And you can make out what you take from it. Information can easily be outdated and there are constantly people on here who returned from their cruise the previous week and can bring the latest insight. I think the fancy term for the common DIS knowledge would be "swarm intelligence".
And to bring it back on topic. I love this thread, thanks to @mylittlebuttercup for starting it! It illustrates that one should never accept the popular opinion as the only truth! what might work really well for 95% of the people might not be right for you and your group. I sometimes read very negative reviews of something on the DIS and then decided to do that experience because, I know that the issues someone else had would not be issues for me.
I don't think the dcl transfers are a waste of money...i don't need a stop...and having the freedom of not seeing my luggage from the time i leave it at the door until the carousel when i get home is pretty darn awesome.
I agree. For two adults (and a toddler who doesn't count into the price yet), I actually find the DCL transfers more economical than other options like a towncar. I'm not sure if a car rental would be cheaper because I didn't investigate that, but the hassle involved with renting/returning would not be worth it to me just to save a few bucks.
It's a big hassle, but for 4 people it's a huge savings. We continue to do it, but yeah waiting on those rental car shuttles is a real PITA. I read a year or so ago that they are going have car rentals at the terminal. I don't know when that supposed to happen, but it sure would be nice.
If we had four people that cost, I would definitely strongly consider other options to save money too! But in our case (which I discussed above), it just does not make sense!
Even for my family (2 adults 1 toddler) the car rental is still cheaper...but a lot more hassle. We usually stay in the hyatt before, so it really makes the beginning of the trip a lot less stressful. Plus, i'm a very VERY antsy person on day 1...even though i always tell myself to calm down and relax, i get super excited and want to be on the ship already...so the additional time to drop off family/luggage, fill up gas, return car, get a taxi all adds to pent up pressure to want to get on the boat quicker...not always a good situation when a slow person on the road can make you lose it![]()
We always end up taking a cab from the car rental agency to the ship I have no patience. We fly in a couple days before the cruise and stay at Resort so that's another reason. I can usually get a 2 or 3 day rental for around 50.00 to 80.00. Takes a lot of work which consists of stalking the car rental web sites to get a good price from MCO to CC. In your situation you are better off just taking DCL transfers.
There are plenty of taxis waiting at the port when you disembark. As for taxis to the port, we always call from the hotel, so I'm not sure.
I have a feeling I already posted this way back in the thread, but:
I THINK GOPRO VIDEO FOOTAGE IN FISHEYE MODE IS EVIL AND MAKES PEOPLE MOTION SICK.
Thanks for listening.![]()
