Unpleasant surprise at ASM

My dd and I had a very wierd experience at the ASM this past week. We were staying in the Jazz Building on the 2nd floor. We left our room about 4:45 to head to the Hoop Dee Doo review (which was great!!) and we returned around 8:30 that night. My dd who is 10 went in the use the bathroom and found that the toilet had been used. I don't want to be gross, but someone had left a huge BM in the toilet. It was definitely not left there by either of us. I know I the door was locked when we left.

My daughter immediately got very scared...she was afraid to be in the room and scared that someone might still be there. I have to say, I got nervous too. The thought that someone had been in our room was very creepy.

Am I naive in thinking that Mousekeeping only comes in once a day to clean your room? I am not accusing Mousekeeping, I don't have any idea who it was...but I don't know who else had access to our room. I can't think of any reason that someone would go into a guest's room and use their bathroom...it's just plain wierd.

Anyway, my dd was so freaked out...actually I was too, but I was trying not to upset her), so I decided to go to the front desk and ask to have our room changed. I honestly didn't know what to say....it's so weird and gross.
Well, I ended up telling it exactly how it happened and the CM agreed it was wierd and she wouldn't want to be in the room anymore either. She called someone to get authorization to move us. She offered us a room in Broadway. I really didn't want to be further from the food court than we already were, so I asked her to please put us in the other Jazz bldg, but she said it wasn't open and I could either go to Broadway or something even further. While I was debating whether to take the room in Broadway or maybe stay in the same building we were in (another floor & room), she went to talk to the manager. He came out and was very apologetic and said they would check into the incident. You know, I really don't want to know who it was....I still can't believe that it actually happened. I really just wanted to get away from that room.

The CM gave me a piece of paper with another room number on it. I almost said wait a minute, I didn't tell you which room I wanted. But I asked her where it was and she said, building 1. Never having stayed there before, I didn't know where it was. I said is it Broadway? She said no, it's Calypso. Now I know that's the "preferred" building which costs more and I really wasn't expecting or even asking them to give me a preferred room for nothing. I only wanted to be as close to the food court as I was previously. But I have to tell you, I loved the location and I am truly grateful that they did!! :Pinkbounc The room was on the 3rd floor, so it was pretty quiet and pretty close to the elevator.

While I'm still creeped out by the experience and my belief that the majority of people are decent & honest is a little shaken, the way that the situation was handled by the CM's at ASM made me feel much better about being there. :goodvibes

WOW! That is some creepy stuff. I would have flipped out!

EEEEEEWWWWWWWWW

I'm so glad the Front Desk staff helped you in such a positive way. I too would have been freaked out.

Yuck! I would have been freaked out too! I am glad they moved you. I would hope that they can figure out who entered your room [by the credit card key in the computer} and remedy from there.

HOLY CRAP!
no pun intended... :rotfl:
But seriously, if it were me, I would have been totally wierded out.
That is just wrong. But you definitely did the right thing by reporting it. I would never have been able to sleep that night if I hadnt moved.
It's great that you got a great room.
:flower:

Thanks everyone for validation that I did the right thing by reporting it. I really thought that the front desk was going to think I was making it up because it sounds like a wierd story. But we didn't want to stay in the room either.

MaryPA, I really hope they figure it out so that they can stop it from happening to someone else. And I really hope that there's an "innocent" explanation. See......I haven't quite put my "rose colored glasses" away yet. ;)

And I did learn something from the experience... Although I don't think anything was missing from our room, I realized that I'd left too many things laying around the room. I will always lock everything up from now on.

That is gross! You were lucky that they put you in a prefered bldg. when I was bit by the bugs in June at Pop Century, they moved me further away. I explained to them that my legs were swollen from the bites (which they were clearly able to see) and I was being moved further than where I origianlly was from the food court. All I got was "we are sorry, this is all we have at this time" and with that she gave me the new room keys. I was not happy but not in the mood to put up a fuss. I took them & left... limping away...

KC=CT, I am glad you kept your rose colored glasses. I cannot believe that there could be an "innocent" explanation. What's worse is, if this person did flush, you wouldn't have known someone was in your room.

A lesson for all of us - don't keep anything in room. Glad your trip was good even though you had an unfortunate incident.

OMG!!!!! That is nasty! I can see why you were freaked out! At least they came thru professionally and also the plus of the upgraded room.

Did you forget to tip??
Totally just joking! I've just heard stories about disgruntled employees, not at Disney mind you!

That is just unbelievable! I am so glad that you reported that incident. Can you imagine the person who did that trying to explain it all away? I would have been totally creeped out. I know that old expression, when you gotta go, you gotta go.......but that is rediculous! Glad the trip ended up being a good time and you have a whopper of a story to tell!

Guess they forgot to squeeze the Charmin! :rotfl:

OMgoodness! That is truely just nasty!!! I can not even imagine! I would have been very upset about it too! UGH! I think I might would have been sick. Sounds like they handled things well though! Good for them! I hope they can find out who did something like that!

Can they really tell who has accessed your room by the key they used? I have never heard of that.

Back when I was in college we had a similar incident happen. My room mate came home and the maintenance guy was sitting on the toilet reading her Cosmo.

Funny you should say that....I had the same thought because it was our second day there and I hadn't left a tip yet. I usually tip at the end of a vacation. I know that it's recommended to tip daily at WDW, but I didn't have any $1 bills the first couple of days. Do you think that could be it? For a few dollars? How sad if that's it.

And then because of what happened, that maid never got anything...for which I do feel bad, because what if it wasn't the maid?

The maid for our new room got the whole tip. I guess it's another lesson for me...tip daily.

Of course I don't know how Disney does it but most of the credit card keys used in combination with a computer can tell who accessed where and what time. Also can lock out people, ex. when you check out, an employee who no longer works there.

That is totally gross. I would have been freaked out too.

I am so glad you were able to move your room.
