UnOfficial March 2012 Trip Planners Tread-DIS Meet 3/8 Info Pg 1

First, Happy Valentine's Day March travellers!!

Just realized my countdown hit the teens today! 19 to go, can't wait!!!!

Some of you have read I'm embarking on a Princess (and Fairy) trip with my DD3 and my mom. I know I can find a few Princesses for Meet n Greet on Main Street (Town Hall or something?) and I know where to find Tinker Bell. Any updates on where I can find more Princesses and Fairies for pics with my DD? We have a bunch of character res's (1900 PF, Akerhaus, CRT), so we'll get a lot there too. Mainly looking for lesser known spots they can be found in if anyone has any.

March is getting closer and closer everyone!!! :yay:

Holy crap. They extended park hours in MK for our week until either 12am or 1am every night. DHS is not open until 10 each night with two fantasmic showings and AK is opening at 8 several mornings.

I may have to change my whole plan up. We were planning to do EMH morning at AK on Wed the 14th. But that means EMH will start at 7am. I don't mind an early morning, but that's a little earlier than I would like. We would have to be out and headed to the park by what, 6:15 or 6:30 at the very latest.

When EMH are really early like that do people take advantage of them or are they even less crowded? I just don't know what to do now.

Ahhh, I for one, am happy with the new hours....my MK hours are back to 3 am instead of 11pm!!! :cool1:

I think they are OK too. I dont believe that they are indicative of larger crowds either. If they were open till Midnight and had a parade twice everynight I would be worried. Think this is just about average for MK.

I'm happy about the extended hours. I think I am anyway. I am going to have to make some changes to our plans though. Especially regarding the morning EMH. I don't know if we will take advantage of those now or not.

It is two parades a night for my week, and two Fantasmic as well. But that works for us too. DD wants to see Fantasmic and this way we hopefully we'll be able to.

The Touring Plans blog has a post with an image of a chart that shows all the changes. I'm glad I'm arriving and leaving before most of the larger crowds are predicted. I haven't had to deal with crowds at WDW since my first couple visits in the late 80s and early 90s. Ever since then I've gone in January. I may be in for quite a shock! :scared1:

We will be at WDW the last week of March and I just saw they have extended MK hours by an hour each night, from 10pm to 11pm. We are very excited by these additional hours.

While winter hasn't been too bad here we have been getting the nagging cold weather and little snow falls and I am getting tired of it. So looking forward to some sun and warmth.

Will be at WDW the First week of March, anyone know how the crowd levels look for that week?

I'm there that week too, and I am thinking that it will be about moderately busy. They recently released some updated hours for March and all that changed for the first week was some extended hours in MK and a few added Fantasmics, but mainly just on the weekend when the parks are expected to be busier anyways. Nothing too crazy until you get to the weekend of the 9th, and then everything starts to pick up. Multiple parades and shows per night etc. All the things that are indicative of heavier expected crowds. We'll be leaving on the 10th so we most likely will miss most of that.

Thanks we're checking out on the 9th so I have my fingers crossed we will miss the crowds too. Have a great trip!!

Now that our trips are getting closer, let's work on our 'to-do' lists!

- cancel mail/newspaper (1 week before)
- arrange pet sitter
- pack clothes
- pack toiletries
- get tip money ready for airport & ME
- print boarding passes (night before)
- attach ME tags to luggage
- pay for luggage online (night before)
- print touring plans & confirmation numbers (I'm waiting until I hear how the new FP system works)
- clean house

Feel free to add to the list so that hopefully we'll all take care of everything that we need to!

The changes to the March hours and some additional research on easywdw have me rearranging my plans for our trip and now stressing quite a bit. I have three seperate possible scenarios with ADR's. I'm having a very difficult time making any decisions at this point. And I'm running out of time with just a little over 3 weeks to go.

I don't want to overestimate DD's ability to go go go on this trip.I know that in her mind she says her ideal trip would be spent more in the parks then we normally do and that's what I've tried to plan. But I don't want to plan more than she can handle.

And the idea of the large crowds is really scaring me because we just aren't used to it and I'm afraid that I'm thinking we will get more done than we actually will.

If you make RD every AM, you'll get so much accomplished. :thumbsup2 And of course, make use of FPs when feasible. You guys will have a blast! :goodvibes

We are going down on March 2nd and leaving on the 10th. We have always gone down the end of August, when they did free dining so this will be the first for this time of year. We aren't sure on how to pack. We will be driving down with 6 of us in a minivan from up near Albany, NY.

How cool are the mornings? I am hoping that since we are from NY that even Floridas mornings won't feel cold to us and that sweatshirts will be enough while we are there. :cool1:

Thanks, I know it will be fun no matter what. When we go in October the park hours rarely change and it such low crowds.

I did have am EMH planned for AK but now that they will be at 7:00am I decided to switch days and just do regular rope drop the next day. We really only want to do EE a few times and I think we should be able to get in a few rides on that and make a late breakfast ADR at 11:15.

I'm thinking that we might take advantage of the later hours at MK now instead.

I don't know about March but we went in February years ago and it was cool enough in the mornings that we used sweatshirts but took them off in the afternoon. And some mornings we didn't need them at all. I would check the weather just before you go to see what they are calling for. But I would pack the sweatshirts anyway. We had a few days in October that were pretty cold that they weren't calling for before we left.

I don't get why people stress out so much about a vacation. Add an extra day if you think you aren't going to get to do everything you want. That's what I did! Go with the flow and chill out. Disney World is not going anywhere. :goodvibes

So...I am currently in right at Disney's door steps. I am at a HRD and CFO convention for the company I work for.......we are staying at the Gaylord Palms!! A group of us have decided to go to downtown Disney on Friday and the Magic Kingdom (we are solo w/o family members). Anywho....the weather is absolutely amazing!! I hope that it stays this way for my families upcoming trip!

Hello, This is my first time on posting on this site. I'll be traveling to the World March 9-15 with a friend who has never been. We are trying to decide if a the dining plan that includes one sit down meal a day is a good plan. I'm concerned we might not be able to get ADR's @ quality venues since we are going during spring break. I can navigate the parks like a ninja, but have limited experience with dining plans. Any thought on this or anything else would be much appreciated! princess:
