UnOfficial March 2012 Trip Planners Tread-DIS Meet 3/8 Info Pg 1

This is me begging you for forgiveness for laughing at the way in which you told the story of your eye being bitten. :worship:

Poor Mickey! :rotfl2:

Would it be easier to take the ECV on the buses to DTD and MK? Don't the buses have lifts?

Maybe for MK but you have to drive it onto the lift which sorta scares me cause of my fear of heights and then I have read so many horror stories about the buses , ECV and the other guests. DTD buses I understand are a PIA since they stop at the waterparks and other resorts so I think driving there is the better option. I know a lot take the bus to DTD and taxi back.

If we did not rent a car ordering the distilled water and a case of water from GG did not seem too feasible since you have to order a min of $40 plus there is a $12 del fee and then tip the bell person when they bring it to the room so there is about $60. This way we will have the car to use. Oh I forgot about the taxi to and from AKL for Boma breakfast another $40 maybe? :confused3

Sounds like the car works a lot better for you. For our January visit I thought about getting an ECV because I had sprained a calf muscle but decided against it after having visions of driving into people and moats.

Beiji, you crack me up. :lmao: While it was horrendous at the time (and I struggled with it all week), it's actually hilarious now. :thumbsup2

Actually, here's an excerpt from my TR about the whole thing (it happened right after seeing F! at DHS:

While we were standing in line for a bus, I was attacked by a bug. I had just pulled my glasses up to the top of my head to rub my eyes when a bug flew right into my right eye. I'm not sure if it stung me or bit me or what ... but it was such incredible pain. I knew it was a bug, and I was trying to remain calm (because if one person panics, everyone else follows suit) ... and I grabbed DH's arm and told him to get the bug out of my eye NOW. He didn't even look at me and said he didn't see anything. So I'm standing there trying to remain calm, not kill him for not helping me, and try to get this bug that's nesting in my eye out.

I did finally get the bug out, showed it to DH and he was like "huh, guess you did have a bug in your eye". Really? At this point, I'm crying, but trying to keep it quiet. We ended up boarding the 2nd CSR bus that arrived that night. My eye was in such incredible pain still.

Moats? :confused3

Owsie! I guess it wouldn't have helped if your DH had said, "But later we'll be laughing about it."

Yeah, you know, by the castle.

Oh, I'm sure he probably did say it, but I was in so much pain, I didn't notice. :lmao:

Hmm... there's a castle there? :confused3

I am not so much worried about driving into people as I am people walking into me. In 2007 we went to DL after being in Vegas and my knee popped as we were leaving LAX to get into the shuttle to DL, so we borrowed a WC from the DL Hotel, worked great for when I needed it but a couple of times DH almost dumped me out onto my head going over curbs when walking to or from the parks. In 2009 I debated about renting an ECV knowing with all the walking my back and or knew would act up but decided against it. Again we ended up borrowing a WC from OKW and that was fine I used it when I needed it but I had my Ddil, DS :littleangel: and DH all there to help with the pushing of the chair. For the life of me I could not roll it myself :confused3 The the day DH and I went to Epcot alone, he passed out on me a combination of his meds, too much beer in Germany and I think pushing me. Luckily it was a controlled passing out as he was able to ease himself down and did hit his head but just slightly. I might mention he also has epliepsy so that might have played a part too, not sure but I do not want him having to push me around the park even though he insists it will not be an issue. Plus I now have breathing issues (COPD and Asthma) and can not walk long distances at a time, I am fine if I take intermitant breaks.

OMG your DH sounds as uselss as mine :rotfl: We were in a small boat on the lake one Memorial Day and a bee flew into my hair so his cousin says to me there is a bee in your hair, well I am petrified of bees so I tell DH "get it out", he sits there like he is deaf and dumb........"get it out" as I stand about ready to jump in the water(mind you I can not swim) and he still just sits there doing nothing, thankfully his cousin got it out of my hair.

Like your tale it is funny now when I think about it but at the tme I wanted to kill DH.

Are you sure you haven't seen it? I'll post a picture of it.

I think you're going to be much safer in an ECV than being pushed/dumped on your head by DH!

I'm allergic to bees, so when one flew into my hair one day, he's all "you'll be fine". :scared1: I was thinking, yeah, you keep thinking that while you're rushing me to the ER.

Hmmm.... :scratchin Is that Pocahontas's castle? I think I saw it at the Animal Kingdom. Perhaps I saw it at the ESPN place. That's the castle for the Braves, right? :confused3

Oh that is not good at all. I hope no bugs attack you this trip.

It's why I try to stay scent-free in warmer months and avoid flowers and such. :lmao: I've been lucky on all my WDW trips. I've not been stung. I've been chased, but not stung. :rotfl2:

So if I see a woman running and seemingly swating the air at nothing it just might be you being chased by a bee. :rotfl2:

Come on, Lidian, it's the castle at Disney's Middle Ages - Not to Be Confused With Medieval Times - Land!

My eldest son go stung by a bee on his ear the day before his Wish trip. We put some ice on it, gave him some benedryl and it looked like everything was OK. It wasn't until we had seatled down from the morning rush to do everything and we were at Give Kids the World that I relized that his ear was swollen and bright red. I asked the front desk about hospitals in the area, gave him some more medicine, and kept an eye on him. Luckily he was fine and the swelling was better the next day.:woohoo:

Totally missed it when I toured that park. They should make it more central or something. Just sayin'. :confused3

Sorry to hear about your DS! :scared: But glad it was okay. I know most people have mild reactions to stings. But I struggle with breathing ... so ... that's not really a good thing. :headache:

Any of you guys want to critique my plans for our trip?

What do you think of my plans? I’d like to note that on DHS and AK days our main goal will be to ride her favorites (EE, ToT and RnRC) she may want to do the safari at AK as well. But that’s about it. She will actually want to ride EE, get off, walk around and get right back in line. We’re used to Oct when its not so crowded but I’m hoping that we can at least ride a few times in the early morning. Same with ToT and RnRC using FP too.

Tues 3/13
DME at 7:30am head to AKV and check in (we actually fly in the night before so could be at DME at 7:00 if we need to)
Breakfast at either 1900 PF at 10:00 or Kona 10:00
Mk for rest of the day to ride what we can and shop and just hang out. Only must do is HM and SM.
Wishes Dessert Party that night.

Wed 3/14
AK am EMH
Breakfast at either TH 10:20, 1900PF at 11:00 or Kona 11:00,
DHS for the evening.
Dinner at Sci-fi at 5:25
Fantasmic. I’d love to try to run to TSM and get in line before they close the line if we can.

Thur 3/15
MK am EMH – space mountain first then whatever we
breakfast at CP at 10:20, or 1900FP 11:00 or Kona 11:00
then if we’re tired head back to resort for nap
dinner at Tony’s at 5:05 and ride whatever we can/want for the evening at MK

Fri 3/16
DHS –plan to get there by 8:00 so we’re ready to go when they let guests in. Head straight to TSM if we didn’t ride Wed night. If we did ride Wed night then we’ll head straight for RNRC and ToT to ride as many times as we can. Leave the park when we get tired and either take a nap or head on over to Epcot. Our evening is at Epcot. I have no ADR’s for this day because I don’t know how long we will be at DHS.

Sat 3/17
– this is the day I’m really unsure of. I thought about doing am EMH at DHS so DD could ride ToT a few more times and/or TSM and RNRC then heading to another park either Epcot or MK for the rest of the morning. I have an ADR for Via Napoli at 2:00 because I’d REALLy like to try it here, but not sure if DD will want to go back to Epcot or just head over to MK for the rest of the day.
Our evening is at MK. Right now I have dinner at CRT but I may cancel that since its just so expensive and I promised DH we would try to keep it simple.

I realize this sounds really busy and we will be exhausted but it’s just the two of us and if we decide to head back to the resort earlier or not stay for the evening shows or something we can. But we will take advantage of the early mornings since it’s just the two of us. And have a break by doing a late sit down breakfast and either go to a park after or go take a nap or go to the pool or whatever.

Corrine - That had to be so scarey for you and your DS, I am glad everything turned out alright and his reaction was minor.
My youngest got stung by a bee when he was around 3 and I panicked calling the Dr. he told me to make sure the stinger was not left in and to put Adolph's meat tenderizer on it and watch my DS. Turned out he was fine and the Adolph's worked like the DR said said it would I guess drawing out the poisen. :confused3 Any way years later there I was babysitting a friends lil girl and yep she got stung so I did what the DR had told me to do with my DS and she was fine. The time with the lil girl was really scarey for me since her father is alergic and I did not know if it is hereditary :confused3

kt_mom - while your schedule does look busy, I think anytime one is planning on park hopping it looks that way. We have never been EMH people, we did one am EMH years ago and that is it. I think you should be fine with the rides, I know in 2009 AK and DHS were crazy busy of course we arrived at both between 10-12, still were able to get FP and my DS and Ddil and DH were able to ride the more popular rides TOT, EE, RNRC etc at least 2x before the crowds got to us and we had to leave.

It looks like according to TP your crowd levels are similar to when we went that year Easter was April 12 and we visited 3/24-3/31......This year Easter April 8 and your going 3/13-3/17 with crowd levels of 10's 8's and 9.

Thanks! DD and I both like morning EMH to get more done. When we all go as a family its hard to get DH on board with having to get up and get anywhere any earlier than absolutely necessary. I want to take advantage of it being just the two of us.

I'm hoping that by doing some sit down late breakfasts outside the parks we'll be able to relax and rest some before taking on the rest of our day. If we are too tired then we can always head back to the resort for a nap or a swim.

I just need to decide which days to eat where.

We normally do an early am TS breakfast so that is a big reason for us never making the am EMH. In 2009 it was our first Spring Break and we found ourselves returning to the resort mid-afternoon after about 4 hours in the park to rest then head out again in the evening since the parks were open later. In 2009 we had no ADR and walk ups were impossible to get except for places not on the DP or that did not take reservations ESPN, Rainforest Cafe Olivias at OKW(where we were staying) we found the CS very crowded and hard to get seating for, I hope you fair better if planning on eating CS. I just found it totally frustrating to the point I may never do a CS place again.
