I've just noticed that there is an "unofficial guide" available for DLP.
Does anybody recommend it? Or know of other good guides/websites?

I loved the unofficial guide to WDW and wondered if the DLP version would be as good?

TIA :)

Got my copy 2 weeks ago and have already finished reading it. Having never been to the Paris parks I found it to be most useful for an upcoming trip to DLRP sometime in the future.

If memory serves me correctly, the brit's guide to DLP seems to come out very popular on here :thumbsup2

Uh huh, copy that! The Brit Guide is totally excellent. I was just checking if the Brit Guide calls itself "unofficial", but no - it's called the ULTIMATE guide to DLRP. Btw, to check this fact, I just had to reach out with my right hand and grab the book from the shelf --> I always have it on stand by :rotfl2: But seriously: the Brit Guide is the book you want.

Hi, thinking about buying this, does anyone know if the 2010/11 version has the voucher for money off at Rainforest Cafe? If so, what's the expiry date? (Would only be buying it for the voucher :thumbsup2 and arent likely to use it until May next year!)

Do you mean the voucher on the inside of the back page of the book?

If you do then it's a 20% off Planet Hollywood voucher not rainforest cafe. I can't check the expiry date though i have just lent it to my sister in law.

I don't recall there being a rainforest cafe money off in the book although i could be wrong.:confused3

I bought the Unofficial guide this year before our trip and was very disapointed with it. Much of it is the same as the version I bought in 1993 (yes - I am sad enough to keep a 17 year old guide book!) I was really disappointed by the inaccurate information it contains. For example: `Walt Disney Studios began participating in the Extra Magic Hours Programme in 2009' (page 44) but then `Guests at Disneyland Resort Paris Hotels are admitted to Disneyland Park (but not Walt Disney Studios) one to two hours before the general public' (page 54) and then `Resort guests are eligible to enter Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios one to two hours before the general public' (page 60). Confusing or what?
Information about the afternoon parade is also inaccurate: `Usually staged at 3pm'. This is not correct.

On the other hand, Simon and Susan Veness' Brits Guide is excellent. I always buy their book, every two years. Not only does it give you accurate information, but you save enough at Planet Hollywood to more than pay for the cost of the book!

Thanks guys - I think I'll go for the Brit's guide to DLP :)

The main draw for me to the "unofficial guide" was the fact that it has touring plans in it - we used these loosely at WDW last year, and following them allowed us to do everything.

Would you say touring plans are essential for DLP? i'm keen to do as much as I can in 2 days there...

I'm also a fan of the Unofficial Guide for WDW, so I was very excited to see the UG for DLP at the library the other day. :cool1: It's marked "first edition" (copyright 2010) so I'm puzzled about the 1993 version a prior poster mentioned...maybe they did one many years ago and then stopped, and this is the first one in a long time? :confused3 Anyway, I agree with the PP that there are many innacurate or conflicting statements. It seems like they cut and pasted a lot from the WDW guide that doesn't hold true at DLP. For example, it says that the Fastpass return window is an hour--isn't it 30 minutes at DLP? It also says you can use them any time after the window opens until the end of the day--which we did at WDW, but I was warned here that you can't do that at DLP! Anyway, I think I'm going to make a note of things like that which I notice and let UG know (yes, I'm a dork...but DH is out of town next week and I'll have time to kill ).

Many folks here like the Brit guide, which I've never seen--any idea where I can get ahold of one in Belgium?

I think the need for a touring plan depends a lot on when you go and therefore how crowded it is. But as long as you know the basic stragegy (get there early and go directly to the things that build up big crowds) you can devise your own and you'll be fine. :goodvibes

Another vote for the Brits guide here! I dip into it often and take it with me on trips. It's very interesting and easy to read.
I don't think a touring plan is as necessary in dlp as in wdw. I agree with others that if u feel you need a touring plan you might be best to devise your own.

The original one was entitled "The Unofficial Guide to Euro Disneyland" by Bob Sehlinger and was published by Hodder and Striughton in 1993. ISBN: 0-340-57475-5. As I said, much of the 1993 version is repeated in the 2010 version. Perhaps the fact that the book title is essentialy changed to give the resort's current name means that the book does say 'First Addition'. Bob Sehlinger then released " The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland Paris (2001) (Frommer's Unofficial Guides) and finally the 2010 edition published by Wiley. Interesting that each incarnation of the book is published by a different publisher.

Im sure Amazon will post the book to Belgium, just checked and it seems ok

I've just bought the Brit's guide!

I absolutely can't wait for it to arrive - I knew I should have paid for express delivery :rotfl:

I've got the Unofficial Guide (I got the same book for Florida is 2008) - seems very useful to me. Very well laid out, easy to dip in and out of and full of useful tips. I got this over the Brit Guide as I thought the layout was structured better (I often carry the guide with me and dip in and out as the day progresses).

I've also just ordered the Brit guide from Amazon. I'll be driving my husband mad for the next month.
