universial ticket question?

I know this has probably been asked before but since I am new to universial and IOA I need to know about advanced ticket purchases. I was going to order my tickets for these two parks with my disney tickets from paramount. However, I was thinking that maybe I shouldn't do this since I am staying on site and want to use FOTL. Do my tickets have anything to do with this or is it simply our room keys? Thanks!

For FOTL access you need your room keys.
