the only thing i found is from screamscape back in april.......

(4/2/12) Remember that rumor I posted back in January about Universal Orlando making some kind of big change to the Universal Express system? This was followed up by a survey from Universal in Mid-March asking about possible names for a new version of Universal Express that would feature a hand-held reservation unit of some kind? Well… check out the little yellow gadget hanging from the belt of a crew member at Islands of Adventure that was sent in over the weekend.
If you’ve never seen one before, that is a Q-Bot, a nifty little wireless ride reservation system device. You don’t need to go to the attraction to use it, you can put yourself into the virtual queue and select your ride time from anywhere within the park and just show up when its your time to ride. I’ve used them myself at Six Flags and Dollywood and they work very very well. So looks like either Q-Bot is coming to Universal… or at least Universal is testing out the system for consideration.

other than that, i dunno.....

There is only a few items on the web. The picture of the sign is new from another forum. But really no details. :confused3

thanks for the link.

so Q-Bot it is...

the last paragraph in that link caught my attention real quick!

unclear whether or not universal will continue to use the Room-Key system for hotel guests.........or whether it will allow guest to have free front of the line access at all.......

and it ends with this is just a trial test and universal may not even use the system.

nothing official until UO states it.

i love staying on site at universal.
but, if the hotel perks are removed for ex line usage, i'll be offsite except for hhn late nights when i am there.

I will be PO'D if they get rid of the resort express pass perk, with all the cheaper hotel options right there, they need a perk to bring people onsite.I loved PBH, but if the resort express was gone, I may rethink ever paying that price again.WOuld they invest the money in the resort photo express pass just to get rid of it completely?

I agree. I can't see the onsite guests losing this perk.

I saw that article when it came out.

I'm surprised to see a sign posted in the park with no info on Universals website.:thumbsup2

I believe hotel guests will still have the unlimited express, but they are trying this new reservation in place of paid express. I think from what I read is they can have different levels of the reservation system. So it might add more options for other guests.

Just saw this on another forum:

Yes, they've been put in full swing at IoA for a little under a month now.

The pricing varies by day and they're using it as a lower tier of the express pass. This is a few buck's cheaper than the 1 park express, but you still have to wait the wait time, just not in the line.

So this means longer express lines for us hotel guests, nice!:scared1::sad2:

I live 38 miles from Dollywood and know this system very well. It's a good system and I use it every time. I don't see how this would be cheaper because you would use this throuhout the day unlike express pass which is once per ride right? Even if it says come back in 45 minutes, the point of the bot is toi fill your time elsewhere while the bot stands in line for you. Just make sure you remember to turn your bot in or don't lose it because it's an automatic $300 charge to your credit card. I would think the FOTL perk is much better because you don't have to lug the bot around with you. Just a nice slim hotel card. I totally agree with RMulieri. If the resort FOTL goes away, the hotel guests go away too. Doesn't make sense.

A change is being implemented to the hotel guests. Soon you will not be able to use your room key for express, but you will have to get a separate Express pass with your photo on it (not sure if this is fully underway yet). You still get unlimited access. Getting rid of that access would never happen, as it would cause hotel (and park) attendance to decline sharply.

the new program for the hotel guests w/ the card and photo on it, was discussed pretty much on the boards late winter.

for some reason it didn't start in april but thought someone posted due to glitches, it will begin soon.

as long as the hotel perks stay in place, i'm good.

The q-bot system should make express lines shorter as it will manage the distribution of people.

Agreed. Universal has always managed the number of Express Passes available. No reason to think they would drop the ball now.

As previously suggested, this may already be in use. I did notice that UOR's website lists two "separate" versions of Express now. One is in the ticket store and is available for purchase. They call this the Universal Express Plus Pass. The other one is the onsite hotel perk. They are branding this one was Universal Express Unlimited.

That's always been in place since the free Express machines were taken out years ago. You could always buy Express Plus passes at the stores at either park. Did you see some other form of Express for sale?

The unlimited one is the VIP ticket. I don't think the names have changed.

It seems like a better deal to stay on night onsite for one night with a family of 5 than buying express passes or vip tickets for 2 days.

Oh I hope they don`t change the hotel EP system.

That would be so disappointing.
