Universal Ride Reservation System

Wait, are they renting these q-bots now at IOA?
How much?

This past weekend was:

One reservation per attraction $32.99
Unlimited reservation per attraction $39.99

You can only reserve one ride at a time. In order to reserve another ride you either need to visit your reserved ride at the time specified or cancel the current reservation.

IMO, this system is a complete waste of time and money. I'm glad I stay onsite.:thumbsup2

So hopefully this idea will die on the vine, and on-site guests will still get express features, because honestly - I could book the double tree for about $200 a night less than some of the other hotels on site.
On-site guests are not going to lose their privilege.

Personally, as long as hotel guests won't lose the perks then I like the Q-bot. We have used it 3 times at Six Flags Great America and like how it works. There are 3 tiers at SF unlike at Universal apparently.

If they are only charging $40 for unlimited rides then that seems very reasonable. We are being charged $110 for two people for the "Gold" Flash Pass at SFGA this Saturday. Our wait times are non-existent with them for all the major rides (excluding the new X-Flight coaster). We have Six Flags St Louis seasons passes which are good at all their parks. We figure since we get in for "free" that we might as well spend the money to insure that we get to enjoy all the rides without hassle.

On the other hand, this seems like it could mess with the FOTL que so what do I know?

This system should make it better for onsite guests not worse. This system will control the express lines by placing the people using purchased express around the park in a more even fashion and keeping the lines more balanced. Those people who are staying onsite will not be given a q-bot. Their experience will not change from the way it was before.

That would be fine if they get rid of the purchased express passes that still allow you to enter when you want and full replace with the new q bot. Right now they offer the q bot as a cheaper version of express. I just think they are testing the waters right now. :thumbsup2

Unless you're visiting during a high travel period, you would probably be OK without Express.

We plan to be there June 20 (Wed) for a day trip primarily for Harry Potter (which doesn't use express anyway) and just plan on IOA.
I'm hoping the fact that it's Wed will make it less crowded and just hope we get there super early.

I'm sad we are not staying onsite this time but hubby hates moving hotels.

Is that per person? Ouch.

Yep, per person up to six people in your party on one q bot. The real express is double that per person peak times. This is why staying onsite is the best option.

We stayed onsite last time and it was quite awesome.
I am a bit worried about this trip.

I would imagine you are right and they are just seeing how it goes. I would expect that they plan to do a full replace once they get all the kinks out.

This is why we don't go if we can't stay onsite. I can't imagine going to the parks without walking on most rides with express, or very little wait. It's called spoiled. ;)

this thread is 3 years old and haven't read others talk about it since then.

you could send an email to guest services to find out if q bot is still available.

Yes it is but not really promoted.

I saw a group using them at RRR the end of May. I've never seen them promoted and I rarely see anyone using them.

When I looked into it, the biggest thing I found out is it's only available for 1 park. You couldn't get a q-bot for both parks. If you're planning on park hopping, that's a big downside compared to express passes.
