I'm not sure how all you Universal die-hards do Disney, but we never wait longer than 15 minutes for anything at WDW. Yes, it requires more planning, but if you arrive early and use Fastpasses, you can avoid long waits at Disney.
On our first visit to Orlando, we stayed at RPR and visited Universal first, then went over to Disney. Yes, we missed having FOTL, but it certainly wasn't a bad experience. We had a great time at both places.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea to do Universal last. I just don't think it's a requirement for a good vacation. But you have to consider that most of the people posting on this area of the forums enjoy Universal more than Disney, so of course, they would want to save the best for last.
We do Disney in the summer and have NEVER had a 15 min wait for anything . So I guess it all depends on when you go. We usually have to wait at lest 45 min. This is why I suggest that people do USF/IOA after WDW to me it is just more relaxing then WDW at the times I can go . Also after not waiting in line you really do get spoiled and don't wait to wait for anything.
I think that's key here. I'm amazed how many people plan every little detail when going to Disney. I don't think my family ever planned anything other than the hotel reservations at the Contemporary for the trips we made in the 70's and 80's...of course there wasn't as much to do either. I just don't see how planning everything down to ADR's and going commando through the parks is the least bit relaxing...even though I know a lot of times it's necessary. Since Univeral is smaller and everything is located within walking distance, it's much easier to relax and really enjoy yourselves. Disney is just too big to really relax and enjoy yourselves and since I live here, I've done every touring plan I can think of...just to do it.I'm not really disagreeing with any of you. I do think it's probably more relaxing and less stressful to save Universal for the end of the trip (assuming you are staying on-site). It really is great to be able to just walk on whatever rides you want without worrying about when you can get your next FP. All I was saying is that if you put some planning and strategy into your Disney time, it doesn't have to be a lot worse as far as waiting in lines is concerned.
Universal is a great ending to a nice vacation to our area and we hope people continue to come down in droves...I don't want to have to start paying state income taxes!![]()
