We had a freind who went. All done and ready to go. So Cal people have a way of over doing these types of things, Harry Potter will be huge.

I can confirm this. We were there this past Monday and got to do everything. It is very much like the first HP world at Universal Orlando but more compact. For rides there is "only" the Hippogriff and Forbidden Journey (now a 3D ride). DS and I were very excited to see that it was open while we were there. One of the staff members said it had been open for about a week. I do believe that the restaurant was not yet open for business but the shops (including the wand shop) were all open.

Is the Forbidden Journey the exact same ride that is in Orlando?

Except for the 3D part I do think so. Granted, it has been 2 years since our last trip to Orlando but I was trying to take mental notes of anything that I felt was entirely different.
