Universal being bashed by Disneyites!!

Boy I have to say, I'm really glad a lot of these people DON'T like to visit Universal - they all sound like they walk around with giant sour faces all day - NOT people I want to be around me in a theme park!

By all means, go crowd up the "magic" kingdom - I've found my magic & it's no where near a giant rat. I'll take Universal any day.

Plus the monorail trains smell like wee. :crazy2: LOL

We get to visit only once every couple of years and just blast round all the parks. My personal favourite is IOA, but my BIL loves MGM most of all. My niece is desperate to go to Discovery Cove. My DH and DS love Busch Gardens.. or maybe US.. or perhaps.... And what about Epcot's food and wine festival??

It's all enormous fun. Disney is delightfully and self-consciously "magical" and US/IOA are a bit more edgy. (That's a compliment, in case I've used an incomprehensible Yorkshire-ism)

What I'm trying to say is Orlando is outstandingly enjoyable - can't see the point of all the rivalry. Off to the other side to do a bit of interfering.

Oh and I may have lied about the once every couple of years. We were there last October and are going again this year. Woo hoo!

Wow, why does it have to be universal vs disney? I love both Universal and Disney and will continue to go to both on each of my florida vacations. I think those that only visit one or the other dont know what they are missing. To each his own, i guess.

To me that's like comparing apples and oranges. Disney is great when your kids are at the magical fairytale stage and for the fairytale atmosphere. Universal/IOA are more about the rides and shows to me. My boys love the intense rides there and love Disney for different reasons. People should stop comparing and do both like we do or stick to their favorite!

Amen sistah :goodvibes LOL!!

And Rescueranger...LOVED YOUR COMMENT!! I could not think of the word...BIAS!!!! OMG!! It was taking me forever last night to come up with a word that would fit. LOL.

Well, it's about time you latecomers showed up! I've been defending Universal's "honor" since page 1 of that thread. It was getting rather lonely in there being the only universal fan.

LOL!! Yeah I'm sitting over there getting BASHED myself because I'm "going to be 18".

Just wanted to say I love you guys over here  <--if this guy could give you a hug he would ::yes::

My one fave comment though from that lady was "I'm not about to have a serious convo with you about WHY UNIVERSAL IS NOT AS GOOD AS DISNEY". Haha. As I said before, STOP SNORTING THE PIXIE DUST...IT ONLY MAKES YOU RUDER!!

What started the whole thing was a thread posted about Universal's kick a$$ new commercial. I LOVE IT! Actually, I love Disney's too (the one with the dreaming doggie). Our fave park is IOA. Our fave WDW park is MGM. We would never fly clear across the country and not visit ALL of them (Sea World included) with the exception of not doing Discovery Cove or Bush Gardens every year. I will not outgrow fairytales and pixie dust but I definitely like to mix it up with a little WOW from Universal. I can't understand why some people are so closed minded and nasty about one park over the other.

I love both parks as well. Just prefer Universal because they have hot guys ::yes:: So if Disney stepped up to par with the hot guys then I would go there more. (I'm Kidding!!)

I just prefer Universal because it's more relaxing and not nearly as crowded. I'm a lover, not a hater.

I didn't reply to that thread. If I did, I probably would've (accidentally) turned it into something worse. Why? Because I would've used a "political" comparison. I'd basically have said that Disney is more conservative, while Universal is more liberal. I don't know what kind of reaction that would've caused, but based on what I saw in there, I didn't want to start anything...

Would you guys mind if I sneaked a little asylum here? This thread will defiantly send a gang of after me with stick and stones!

Our family was WDW fanatics for a long time (see trip numbers below). But, since my kids turned double digits and we discovered PBH, UO is our destination of choice. Just as I never bashed Universal back in the 90's, I will not deliberately go out to bash WDW now. I just tell people my opinion, which I think everyone is entitled to do. But, I don't attack people because they have a different opinion.
Maybe the people who are doing the bashing haven't reached a level of maturity yet that allows them to have an open mind, irregardless of their age.

You're safe with us.:p

Great job everyone!! I think the bashing on the other thread has pretty much stopped. I think the Disney loyalists may have underestimated how many of us there are that like both Universal and WDW. The reason I even get fired up about that stuff is because I listened to my friends and didn't go to Universal for a long time because they said it wasn't worth it. Finally, in 2002, we went and we love it just as much as Disney now. I am afraid there are alot of people out there who just haven't given it a try because of comments like I saw over on the other thread. Maybe we actually even found a few converts. Uhoh...that means more crowds:eek:...Just kidding, there is room for everybody:wave:

I dare not walk over there because it will get ugly if I make my comments.

Hey, let them stay at Disney. Shorter lines for us! Ssshh, sshhh, let them sweat in the line for Test Track or Peter Pan's Flight! I need my Hulk line short! :)

You are mistaken, oh Wise Marauder...which park has the lovely "Gay Day" and such? ;) Each park has its conservative and liberal aspects to it. :)

Yup!!! I don't go around starting Anti-Disney protests, like I've said. I have a lot I could complain about, but I have better things to do...like enjoy Universal!! ::yes::

STOP SNORTING THE PIXIE DUST...IT ONLY MAKES YOU RUDER!!

LOL everytime I read that comment, it cracks me up!

Well, I opened up the thread and looked at it. I think I need to see that commerical! Has anyone seen it yet?

I have and it’s a cute commercial! I don’t think its as cute as the lady HOLDING her two kids on the Jurassic Park ride but gets a cameo in this one as well riding with the Super Heroes on 4X4

the one with the lady on Jurassic Park...the same one with the business guy on Dr. Doom, and all? I LOVED those commercials!! I always ran to my TV whenever they were on...those were fun to watch! I also miss the one car commercial that used Universal/IOA in it...you all know which one I'm talking about? Someone mentioned it on these boards (I think it was JessicaR) and I saw it once...never again. THAT was a great commercial too.

Haven't seen this recent Universal commercial though.

Barry -- about the lines thing, AMEN! As I had told Keriann on my website, less people to fight over my spot with at the GB Show and Graveyard Revue ;) lol
