Universal being bashed by Disneyites!!

I totally agree with you, Dreamflight! Why can't we all just get along????? :p

I appreciate all of the Orlando parks and would never bash them to bring up another. It's idiotic. But that thread put us on the serious defensive, and once that happens we have to come out swinging.

Thank you for being the voice of reason.

Dreamflight,
Do you still spend a couple months in Orlando each summer? I remember reading your posts on the Swan/Dolphin and being very envious!

Love Both! I'm more of a Disney fan But Universal has great hotels and you are very spoiled while there. Last year was the first year we stayed at Universal for 3 nights and Disney Seven. Next year we Will do 4 days at Universal and 6 at Disney. Universal impressed me alot. KELLY

P.S 3/5/04 we are actually thinking of doing 5 days Disney 5 Days Universal know. Just purchased a Univesal AP for the great discounts they offer My husband and son will get the 5 day pass.

They keep impressing a lot of people. The first time I went I did not like it, now you can't get me away from there!

What does everyone think of the new Universal commercials that they are airing? :- ) They are along the lines of "If your tired of pixie dust and fairytales".... I think they are great...it's about time that Universal fought back. :-)

Still haven't seen the new commercials :( But I always enjoy the jokes they make on Disney.

Funny story: At the Horror Makeup Show, when the guest squirts water at the audience (usually is Mark James, but this time is was a lady, and so her name was Marty James). Marty didn't do the "mouth-to-mouth" part that the guys do, so she couldn't use that excuse when she would single someone out. So, she kept squirting a woman over and over and over and said, "That's what you get for wearing that Disney crap!!" LOL!! I didn't post it on the other board because some of the Disney people may read too much into the "crap" part of it...it was all in fun and teasing, because as we Universal addicts know...especially those of us who are fans of that show, know it's "just another joke." :D

You are all wrong!

The best park in Orlando is...

... Gatorland!

Who else serves gator meat?

:) :p :bounce: :sunny:  :hyper: :earsgirl: :smooth: :jester:

YES!~I'll be there for the same duration this summer as well. :teeth: I "always begin" our sojourn with the Peabody, and then a week in the same Villa suite @ PBH! We LOVE the US parks...and the food at the restaurants, etc. In fact, I just bought a couple of the 1/2 off certs yesterday (Pastamore...etc). I could never dream of a summer in Orlando, without visiting Universal Studios. :sunny:

Barry~Short lines? This is one of the BEST perks about staying on Prop.! FOTLA!!! Disney does not even come CLOSE to this perk with their fast pass. We never wait for ANY attraction. We ride Spidey again, and again, and again. Until I don't know which end is UP! :hyper:

**Note: And for some of the BEST Gator in Fla., try the Outback RESTAURANT (not affiliated w/steakhouse) in the Wyndham Palace Resort across from the Market Place, DTD. The appetizer is wonderful, but the Gator CHOWDER is astounding. Mmmm. They also serve other exotic meat (Kangaroo, etc.) on their menu, but their specialty is the Lobster. They have GIANTS (3-6#ers and UP), and even place plaques on the wall (like Shula's Steak club) for the participants whom can eat the entire thing! With an open-hearth kitchen and wonderful ambience, it's a favorite of ours. They also tout the areas BEST Key lime pie (they win the annual award for this product). Table #38 is the BEST in the place. They also have a waterfall/bridge and beautiful Koi pond inside the restaurant. It's an annual MUST for us! Orlando Ent. Book has a $34 value offer on page A24 of 2004 book. One dinner comp when one is purchased (of equal/greater value). Also a $37 value offer for Arthur's 27 on the top floor of this resort. Both offer diverse & memorable dining opportunities while in Orlando!

Flyfly_Eclipse~Do they take audience participants for this scene?! I could volunteer wearing my DISNEY "T" !!
All in good fun. ::yes::

TTFN & TGIF!! DF99 :wave2:

Dreamflight, the Outback Restatrant does have amazing gator. I had that appetizer, plus tried the kangaroo (which was suprisingly good).

And their berry dessert.... :bounce: was amazing!

And Barry, Burger Digs used to serve gator bites. But that went away a looooooooong time ago...

Universal's staff has always been very professional and helpful, on the same level or higher than Disney.

Universal has the latest and the greatest theme park attractions and technology.

Staying on-site at Universal is a first class experience all the way. Being from NY, I don't have much patience for lines and do not visit Disney anymore because I cannot stand the long lines and lack of investment in new rides.

Obviously when I have kids someday I will want to take them to Disney, but as a guy in his early 20's, the choice is clear. Universal is offering a much better value for your money.

Maybe with Eisner out of power, Disney can get back to becoming the innovator it once was.

Hey,
Let the Disney people stay at Disney!
Who needs the crowd?
Best things are kept quiet :-)

LOL very true Sokay!!! I'll have to remember that next time I want to tell Disney people how awesome Universal is!! :p :p ::yes::

My first time visiting Universal last year in April...I AM SOOO HOOKED!! My kids love Universal more than Disney!! They always ask me to stay at HRH or RPR!. Well...ever since our first trip to Universal, everytime we head to Orlando we always gotta do both- Disney and Universal. We love both of them.

I love staying on-sight...I love it soo much that within a year's time, I became a Platinum member of Loews!! I became friends with some of the people that works there at RPR! They are sooo nice and sooo friendly!! OH...the FOTL...WOW!! You can't beat FOTL!

Originally posted by dreamflight99 The only negative comments I've ever received while in either park, were from US IOA associates. They jokingly told me to leave, or buy another shirt (DISNEY theme). I laughed along with them, and was not in the least offended. I have worn other theme park shirts in WDW, and no CM has ever made a comment. Not even joking. ;) [/B]

I just got back from my trip to FL and went to Epcot wearing a Sponge Bob shirt and twice got harased about It....Once was In a jokingly way(Like you mention happened to you at IOA about buying a new shirt) the other I felt was very rude(Not sure If the lady ment it to be) she singled me and my family out and kept "joking" about how dumb Sponge Bob Is compared to disney toons and made me feel very uncomfortable while we were In line for a ride. This went on for about 5-10 mins straight.

While I relize Universal and Disney are competeing for our money I felt she went over board and If I would of thought of It at the time I would of got her name and reported how uncomfortable she made me and my family feel...But at the time I was just glad to get away from her.

yeah, I don't get it! It's always that when comparing Disney and Universal that "Disney is perfect" and "Disney is so much greater than Universal" it just drives me insane!!! The attitude of these people is what gets me! I REALLY dislike Disney, but like I said, I don't start an Anti-Disney protest or anything!
Well sure you didn't start a protest, but in each of your posts you just add fuel to the fire. I think people get the idea that you don't like Disney, you don't have to reiterate it in all of your posts. ;)

Can you believe that one person would have such a negative experience as that one poster said they had? I mean come on... It is very obvious that she MUST of had a bias before she even entered the parks.
I didn't walk in to either Universal park with a bias, but I was bored to tears at the Studios and IOA left me feeling... "well this was ok, but it doesn't live up to the hype for me". I still get dragged to IOA once a year though because my partner enjoys the coasters.

Actually, if you reread her posts you will find absolutely no Disney bashing. If stating her love of Universal adds fuel to the fire, well that certainly is silly.

Did I say that she was bashing? No. I simply stated, in particular the first few points on this thread, that it apparently needed to be made clear in every post that she doesn't like Disney. We get it, you don't have to keep stating it over and over.
