Units Sizes at each resort

A number of years ago, someone had posted a listing of the square footage of each unit size at all of the resorts at the time. It was probably done around the time VWL was being built.

I just called Member Services and asked about the size of the units at Vero Beach. I was surprised to learn that a Studio unit is smaller than an Inn room. It was something like 370 sq.ft for an Inn unit and 326 sq.ft for a Studio unit and 748 for a one bedroom.

Does anyone have the information on the other resorts and unit sizes?

Thanks

:earsboy: Only 6 days till we return home to OKW....Yeah...

Here are some reported room sizes for DVC resorts:

OKW
Studio: 390 sq. ft.
1 BR: 1005 sq. ft.
2 BR: 1410 sq. ft.
GV: 2375 sq. ft.

HH
Studio: 455
1BR: 856
2BR: 1311
GV: 2362

BWV
Studio: 359 sq. ft.
1 BR: 712 sq. ft.
2 BR: 1071 sq. ft.
GV: 2142 sq. ft.

VB
Studio: 375
1BR: 880
2BR: 1265
GV: 2125

VWL
Studio: 356
1BR: 727
2BR: 1083
GV: None

BCV
Studio:356
1BR: 719
2BR: 1075
GV: None

I'm not sure about the discrepancies you found thru MS.

Enjoy!

I'm surprised to see that the Beach Cottage at VB is 10% smaller than an OKW GV; it felt larger. But I guess all of those windows give an illusion of extra space. Plus I assume that the square footage doesn't include decks, and the BC had three of them plus a porch.

These room size reports come from a variety of sources and some sources (even from DVC) don't offer the same numbers. Accept the numbers at your own risk! ;)

Go to DVC web site, click on understanding your membership, then member benefits and privileges, then on exhibits. You will get a listing of all WDW resorts and room sizes.

Just a quick thanks to every for their comments on room sizes. I am trying to check out the link to the members only page.

Thanks.

Mitch

That list is from the member guidebook a few years ago. I don't think it includes DVC units at all. Doc's numbers are in line with what I've seen and with the info on Deb Wills site. Early on DVC had the sqare footage listed along with the room diagrams on the website but that went away with the first upgrade to the site if memory serves. Keep in mind that all rooms will not be exactly the same. I don't even think the POS gives unit sizes any more.

In my humble opinion, square footage and room size or how big a room feels aren't necessarily the same thing. For instance, even though VB Inn rooms are more square footage than a VB studio on the list, VB room sizes are definitely not all the same size due to some of the unusual configurations and the slanted cealings in some can make a big difference. Layout has a great deal to do with the feeling of size, there can be wasted space in hallways which don't offer any usable or additional living space, just going from one room to the next, etc.

It's an interesting list. I always thought HH rooms seemed bigger than VB, but that's not what the numbers show.

Dean is correct. I should have been more specific. The site provided the room sizes for the resorts in the Disney Collection. You can also get room sizes from Perlmutter's WDW Guide.

Jim, it's funny I was looking at at my 1998 Unofficial guide (last one I bought) and it lists sqare footages for many of the units sizes at OKW and BWV. It's obviously wrong though.
