Hi,

A couple of queries.

I have booked for myself and my 3 year old son to fly to Orlando via Newark on the 26th January. However his mum (we are separated) is being really difficult and I may be going solo. Do I need to cancel his ticket or just turn up myself? I really don't want to cancel in-case she she's sense in the next 24 days.

When can I expect to receive our flight tickets from Virgin / United?
Will I be able to check in online as I haven't booked direct with United.

I really feel for you! What an awful position to be in :sad2:

I am not much help with info - I didn't realize you could actually book united flights through Virgin  It's been YEARS since I've been issued with an actual ticket. All ours have always been e-tickets - you just take your passport to the check in desk/bag drop and they scan it and all your details come up.

What I would suggest, while you still have time, is that you phone or email Virgin and ask them if there is a reference number by which you can access your booking for online check in and to save waiting for additional replies if you go the email route, ask them to explain how to go about it as well.

I don't think you are compelled to cancel - there are always no shows for a flight and if you have some hope that your son may be able to go with, I would certainly not cancel at this stage in any event.

I hope it all works out for you the way you want it to

Just a thought, if you do get permission to take your son to florida from his mum make sure you get a letter of permission from her for the usa authorities.
good luck I hope you do get the chance to take him to the happiest place on earth :goodvibes

Thanks guys,

Hopefully things will be fine, I do have a signed letter from her that she signed a while ago but I have been seeing a lawyer recently about proper access / shared custody and will get a proper notarized letter.

I have just emailed Virgin for a reference to log on to the United site. Their manage your booking page is down at the moment though my reference never worked as it was one of the new 7 digit ones.

We were meant to go in September but I had to cancel due to losing my job. I have been working temp jobs since but start a new permanent job this Friday. :)

When I booked these flights I only wanted to pay deposit so searched on the Virgin Holidays site for fly drives from Glasgow. I had the option of going via Gatwick with BA? / Virgin or Newark with United. I hate flying back from the US knowing I still have another flight to get on.

So 1 issue resolved, I called Virgin today who gave me my reference number for United. I was able to then log in and chose our seats.

That's good news :) Now fingers crossed for your son to go have a great vacation with you :goodvibes
