Unique things to do at Disney World

Yikes! Sorry for the delay!

Thank you so much for your ideas!!

Either campfire roast or Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness. Sadly neither fit into this trip

Yum, that sounds great! I'm always up for new food options! :thumbsup2

We like to rent a pontoon boat at the Contemporary. While cruising around on a boat is not "unique" per se, being able to zip over to check out the skeletal remains of River Country and Discovery Island, and being able to zip around with a castle in the background are pretty unique experiences and it isn't very expensive to do this.

Ooo!! We rented a boat MANY years ago to watch Illuminations, but we have never rented a boat for the Seven Seas Lagoon. Good idea!

Are you golfers? I hear Disney has fantastic golfing!

Well, my DD is! But unfortunately, I am more of a mini golf person. But then again, I guess there's no better place to learn than in the most magical place! There's a golf course near OKW. We usually watch people play their holes from our hotel room.

Behind-the-scenes tours. I have done the Backstage Safari, Keys to the Kingdom, and Backstage Magic tours.

Loved both the Backstage Safari tour and KTTK tour. I highly recommend both.

Liked the Backstage Magic tour (it ended up being a little long for me, some of the itinerary didn't interest me much, and it was pretty expensive at about $200!).

My parents did the KTTK tour last year and RAVED about it. I think we want to look into the Backstage Magic tour, but as you said, the price and time commitment are a little rough.

night vision animal watching at AKL hotel

Nice! We're staying at the AKL for part of our trip. We'll have to see if we can fit it in!

We love the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian. Wonderful. :cloud9::love:

I've been looking into that! Reminds me of my time in London. :)

We're seriously considering para-sailing in the MK lagoon in Oct.

Bill From PA

Ooo! Another great idea!!

You guys are great! Thanks!

Fort Wilderness has kayak (and canoe) rentals for something around $10 an hour from the Bike Barn. I did this for the first time on my last trip, and it was so relaxing =) You go around the canals of the campground, not out to 7 Seas Lagoon. Have a wonderful time with whatever unique Disney activities you choose!!

My youngest DD and I tried parasailing on our last trip. It was awesome! She was very scared to begin with (and this girl can fly and airplane), but once we were up she LOVED it. It's not cheap, but we got a Groupon for it and it was definitely worth it.

If anyone in your group is a vet, you could try to sign them up for the flag ceremony on main st. at MK. I volunteered my Dad at guest services. He got to lower the flag, help fold it and march in a mini parade with the barbershop quartet that lead the ceremony. They also had my daughter site the pledge of allegiance over the PA on main st. It was pretty neat. At the end, they took pics of all of us with my Dad holding the folded flag, and he also got a nice certificate.

This was about five years ago so I'm not sure if they still do it, but I don't know why they would have stopped.

There is no cost for this. You just go to guest services and ask if you can be a part of the flag ceremony, but you must be a vet in order to do it.

I thought this was pretty unique and cool. Definitely a highlight of our trip, and my Dad still displays that picture in his living room.
