Unique Baby Girls names??

I didn't read all 11 pages either but my daughter's name is Avery and we receive countelss compliments. We also have a family member named Mina. We think both are beautiful names but I suppose we are partial.

My daughter's name is Margaret. It's familiar, everyone knows the name, but she is the only Margaret at her school and almost anywhere she goes -- certainly among her age group. Plenty of nickname options, too.

My children's names are Haley Dawn, and Gerald Matthew- we call him Matthew. Nothing unusual here.

Tonight at my dd dance recitical there was a girl named Treasure. I have taught for many years and have never met a student named Treasure.

My dd is Noelle Elisabeth. Noelle isn't too common of a first name, but not toooo out there either. :thumbsup2 Almost everytime I tell someone her name they think it is pretty. :goodvibes She's not a Christmas baby either! I used a S in her middle name instead of a Z because I thought it was more unique. My name is Stephanie and boy were there alot of them around my age growing up (almost 28 now). So I decided I would not do that to my dd, but gave her a common middle name in case she decideds to use that instead! :confused3 Noelle is becoming popular as a middle name. I love the names McKenna, Madison, Sarah...they are just too common for my taste though. We were going to use McKenna until we realized it was gaining popularity! Hope I helped in some way! Good Luck to her! :goodvibes

Some people think my girls names are different. I only hear Anya every now and then.

Anya (On-ya)
Heidi (High-dee)

Here are some other names I liked. I like uncommon ones although some of these are getting trendy.

Ella
Ellison
Kerstin (Care-steen) its German
Delaney

Do you have any Irish Boys names my sister is looking for one of those?

I previously posted this before but my ds's have Irish names:

Brennan (actually an Irish last name but we like it)
Declan (this is the American spelling - the Irish spelling is something like Deaghlan)

Others we like:

Finn (short for either Finbar or Finnegan)
Seamus
Ciaran (pronounced "kee-ran"; we almost went with this instead of Declan)
Damian

Engelleighna (Prononuced Angelina) I can honestly say never saw that before

Oh my...that's going to fun to spell to an entire lifetime. That's in the same group as Gennaphyr/Jennaphyr for Jennifer.

Personally, I prefer traditional/classical names...ones that are distinctly feminine for girls and masculine for boys. I also prefer "formal" names so the child can have the option with what form they use as they age.

Elizabeth is an example of a name I love with plenty of potential for nicknames and alternative forms.

My daughter is Gabrielle Lily, orignaly started at Gabriella Melody. If I ever have another girl she'll be Melody Rose. Jaylyn, Aleah, Georgia. My Fave is Heavnly. I hope it helps. :rose:

I have two girls. Haleigh (hay-lee) Michele and Chloe Renae. I picked Haleigh's name. I saw Pollyanna when I was 8 and loved the movie and my mom told me that the actresses name was Haley Mills and I said that my first daughter was going to be a Haley. I changed the spelling but I didn't know any other Haleigh's so I thought it would be good for an unpopular name. A year later it was in the top 5 names. Still, she doesn't have any kids in her class with her name. My husband picked Chloe (he got it from the show Smallville). My name is Sandra Annette. I don't find a lot of people with my name (at least around my age). My sister was going to name her daughter Amethyst Lynn. I was terrified for they child she might have but when they did have a girl they named her Aurora Lynn (she's a Disney Freak, too).

You want unusual? My mother ensured a lifetime of unusual for me with...Reynic :sunny: My whole name at birth was Alice Kelly Reynic ******* Yes, that is my name and I wouldn't change it if I could. And I don't know if I am the only one of those on the census records but it is still pretty different (Irishbosoxfan).

I have some relatives named Arden, Omalee, Ollie Cleo, Ora Mae.

My sis is named Whitney, which was unusual when she was born almost 29 years ago. It just proves the point that most names that were at one time unique, will not be one day.

I would stay away from the trendy "K" names: Kayla, Katelyn (and all its variant spellings), Katie, Michaela, McKenna, McKenzie, etc... In the words of a previous poster, you can't swing a dead cat around here and miss someone with one of those.

Both of my girls were named "family" names. J.C. was named after my DH, DD, and my maiden name is her middle name. Ali was named after my GGrandfather, GGrandmother, and my Grandmommy's maiden name is one of her middle names. (There are several of us that had 4 names at birth.

I know this is about girls names but, my aunt (Arden) is a direct decendant of Gen. Jeb Stuart. They named thier son (36 years ago) James Edward Brian Stuart ******* and he has always been called Jeb.

My sister's name was Miranda Marie and my daughter's name is Marissa Claire.

They were/are the only Miranda's and Marissa's in their school.

I think the names are both beautiful, feminine and easy to spell while being somewhat unique!

I would recommend against a real common name. My DD's friend will be known as "Emily B." the rest of her life. I also don't like "unique" names either. My rule is: how does President FirstName LastName sound?

My daughter's name is Tessa. Her middle name is Rae. I call her Tess though. It fits her. I haven't seen my name which is odd because friends was so popular. I am Monica. I love my name. My middle name is Dawn. The funny thing is I NEVER watched Touched by an Angel, and I guess the main characters names are Monica and Tess. My daughter loves her name. It is never on personalized stuff either, but she doesn't care.

We are from Germany and here it is very difficult to use some very nice names for girls who are posted above.

We named our daughter " Lisa Christin ". Lisa as a short form of her Dads grandmother Elisabeth and Christin the same from the other part of the family.

She likes it and she was the only girl in her class with this name. :cheer2:

I like names like Annika Maren Solveig, Ann-Kristin or something like that, but my husband not.

My son has 3 names: Philipp Michael Dieter :sad2: He dont like his names. There are 3 boys in his class. My Philipp, another Phillipp and the third Phillip. Its not easy for the teacher.

Greetings from Germany

Ah! A woman after my own heart!! I was not going to read through alll the posts to suggest this site! I was glad to see that it was near the end of the posts so I did not duplicate! THe Social Security site s a great resource that I have used over there years...

Unique is great - however, and I am not sure if anyone else has posted this - but you dont want to scar your child for life either by giving them a name that is so unique its werid!! Just My Opinion... But at the same time as the poster above said that super common names can do the same thing! DH7 has a Ben L and a Ben H in his glass as well as a Devon G and Devin R....
There is some one in our area who, no kidding, has the name Richard Swett and a Richard Head ... I kidd you not! You do the conversions, the poor kids - Family names or not - that is just wrong... :sad2:

Having a not so common name myslef, Gredel, and a sister who is not so common, Liesel, it was kinda of a tease for me as a child, "Hey Gredel, where is Hansel" but I have come to accept it and have never met another Gredel or Gretel.... And I like it that way. I can call as say, "Hi - its Gredel" and thats it - no last name needed. Same with my sister. I won't begin to explain how people have butchered spelling it or pronouncing it,but its all relative. :wizard:

:cloud9: I am in the process now of picking boy names for the babyboy we are expecting Oct. 1st... Its also important, I think, to keep in mind that your baby will be an adult later in life.... A name that can have an adult verison and a child nickname is helpful. DS3 is Brayden, but called Brady. That way if he were to decide to become a staunch Businessman later is life, Brayden is more studious ((LOL)) :rotfl: ....

Here is also a fun link- shows the popularity of a name over years...

Good luck - giving a child a name is a very important task! Don't take it lightly! :cheer2: Thanks for letting me share!!

I for got to add the name sthat were onour girl list before we had found out we have having Baby Boy #3:

Reagan/Regan
Caroline
Reese
Keegan
Elizabeth (pretty classic and classy IMO)

I think there were a few more, but they were taken off the list. Those are the ones that stand out the most in my mind... also try:

Good Luck! princess:
