Unique Baby Girls names??

Almost forgot - a little girl in one of my dance classes is named Calisity. We call her Cali. (it is a short A sound). I think that's a very pretty name.

Sorry if these are repeat names, but I didn't read all of the posts. I've always liked Chloe and Rayne (pronounced rain). My middle name is Noelle, born Dec 19th. I also try to think of names that won't sound too silly when the "little girl" becomes a woman. I also like Isabella and call her Bella which means beautiful in Italian.

Feleen-(Bambi's girlfriend) my niece's name
Renell-DH 2nd cousin
Leigh Ann-The name DH and I have chosen if we ever have a daughter.

Good luck!!

I noticed on page 13 someone had a mom named Kendal. I named my daughter Kendalle...and she is , so far, the only one (with that spelling) that I've ever met. Kendalle Elise.

If I had a boy , I wanted to name him Connor, but now X refused (thought he'd be called Connie). Still love the name!

I always loved my grandmother's name Aurore. My mom is Anita and my daughter is Caroline. My mother in law (a wonderful woman) was named Ruth and it suited her. I hardly hear this name in the younger generations.

If I ever had another girl she was going to be Francine Elizabeth, Dorothea Louise or Mary-Louise Kathleen.

My name is Rae Jean except its said as one word as in Raejean.

I had a friend who's name was Rae Jean, her brothers were named Rae Mond jr, Micah Rae, & Rae Mone, her sister's name was Rae Leigh.

I also had a friend growing up named Janieava (Jen-eve-ah). All her brothers & sisters' names also started with J ~ Japheth, Joseph, Jennipher, Jaden, Jason, Jeromie, & Jadzia (Jad-zee-ah).

We named our DD Tabitha Nichole. We wanted something different for her first name and something common for her middle name in case she didn't want to be unique. My DH's great aunt came up with her nickname, Taffy, because I hated when people called her Tabby. Some of our other choices for girl names were:

Cahira
Persophone (per-sef-o-nee)
Amina (ah-mee-nah)
Wendolyn
Keanna (kee-on-ah)

My sister named her dds Kelsie Delane and Annalee Michael - aka Anna. Ann and Lee were her DH's parents' middle names, and his sister is LeAnn.

No matter what name she chooses, tell her to try yelling it and make sure the full name rolls off the tongue. It kills a stern warning if you can't get the full name out. :rotfl2:

Does she like the name Kelsie? We're thinking about naming our dd due in November Kelsey!

I like and would use:
Madeline Elizabeth (Libby, not Maddie, DH is Matthew, and he's often called Mattie)
Maile (my-lee)

Others I've heard that I like but wouldn't use:
Lana (lay-nuh)
McKenna (becoming more popular in our area, and DH hates it-- doesn't want her nickname to be Mickey)

I named my daugher Anne-Bethesda. She chooses to go by Anne and use B. as a middle initial, even though she really doesn't have a middle name.

My daughters are Gillian (sounds like Jillian, but I didn't want people calling her Jill) and Lila (long i sound). I think that they are beautiful and classic but still unique.

Other favorites: Nora, Margo, Eliza, Amelia, Meredith, Miranda, Ella

The SSA website's top 1000 list is a great resource of names and can tell you which ones to stay away from if you don't want to pick a popular name.

I didn't read through all of the posts but if I had a girl it would have been

Jolie

my sister named her dd Jubilee. I think that is very pretty.

I also liked Bambi but my husband vetoed that name.

Our DD's name is McKenna and sometimes we call her Kenna for short.

Josephine (Joey or Josie for short)

Not "new" by today's terms though. My Dad's name was Joseph and Mom was Harriet. I got pregnant on my birthday 2 months after my dad had died (Mom passed 3 yr earlier). So I felt is was a "birthday gift" from them because it took me over 1.5 yrs to get pregnant again. I was going to name my DD Josephine Harriet, but thought I would just cry every time I said her name so I went with McKenna Harriet. The middle name is a tradition (the grandmother's first name) in our family.

Coool names.

Our DD2 is named Ella Rose and our son, who is 2 months old, is named Jack Phillip.

WOW - my niece who will be 4 next month is named Ella Rose! She also has a little brother who is 18 months but he is named William Richard. Small world :goodvibes

I'm a plain jane name type of Mom, my girls both have classic names that are fairly common. My rule for names was nothing that could be shortened into a nickname. My name has a common nickname and I hate it when people think that it's ok to use it.

however, I saw a name that was new to me in church on Sunday, a little girl was baptized and her name is Trevi. Like the fountain in Rome. treh - vee

I used to work in hospital admissions and saw some doozies - L&D would call down to update the baby's chart once the mother named the baby. One of my favorite names was a little girl born on July 4th named Liberty. The worst one was a little boy named Shi-Tay. supposedly pronounced shy-tae but I'm sure you all can imagine what he will be called...

Haven't looked through all the posts, so these might have been mentioned but here are some that are unique but pretty:

Autumn
Hallee (pronounced with short A instead of Haley with long A)
Charity
Patience
Sophie/Sophia
Sierra
Melanie
Hope
Liberty

These are all names of either students of mine, or friends kids names.

We also have friends with unusual names for girls...their 3 are:
Brynn, Devin, and Ryan

I've been pretty lucky to have an easy but not so common name...Wendy. Growing up I only encountered 1 other Wendy in elementry school. Now a friend of mine is marrying a Wendy and my uncle married a Wendy too. So now at family functions we are usually known as Wendy1 and Wendy2(me, just because I'm the younger one and I got too old for "little Wendy")

My niece's name is Jordyn (which is becoming popular but usually not spelled the same) and my nephew is Jadyn (which I personally thought looked too girly with the y, I thought it should be Jaden, but my sister wanted them to have similar spellings of the names)

GOOD LUCK name searching :yay:
