Maybe maybe not, they had no issues participating in the 2019 strike. Unless you have insider information into the particular Union I mentioned yours is just speculation into their tactics. It sounds like from all local discussion the plants were not included in the initial strikes, as they said they are prepared to do so though. The Wentzville location over in STL area is part of it. Personal opinion but the biggest impact would be to have everyone do it at once as that would be the most devastating but hey that's just my opinion. All I was doing with my comment was giving information into the plants local to me.

Well I actually have spoken to a few industry insiders (as I used to work in the auto industry) and that is the general consensus. The staggering is a better strategy than what you suggested. Additionally they are striking against all 3 domestics at once this time. Time will tell how this all plays out, I guess.

We spoke to my sister-in-law on this and from her perspective it's not about confusing the management. Not to do with management at all. Rather from her viewpoint more about the issues with production would cause the economy. Like I said they were told to be prepared to strike which means they can still do it.

The Ford plant here has 7,200 employees in just the Union 249. The GM plant with the other union has 2,200 employees The consensus here is they are trying to prove a point without it being the hardest of the hardest hit.

I didn't say that my strategy was the better one, only that it would be more devastating. Ford has laid off 600 employees from the Michigan plant and those employees were non-striking ones.

But when I said insider I didn't say industry insider, I said inside information from this strike and this union. Everything else is just speculation including my own.

Also money. The UAW Strike Fund is purported to have enough to cover the entire membership for 11 weeks of strike pay plus benefits. By only striking at a few locations to start they preserve a lot of that fund.

I assume strike pay is not full pay. Is it a percentage of pay or does everyone on strike get the same strike pay?

$500 per week is the strike pay

Now California is trying to pass a law that those who chose to go on strike will be eligible for unemployment.

With the strikes going on and the ones that are being threatened I have a question I'm hoping someone here can answer. At what point does the employer have the right to move on from the union and replace the striking workers? I'm not looking for any political statements for or against unions.

my thought and it might not be correct is if they have negotiated in good faith with not progress and the current contract has expired. Anytime they want.

Drew Barrymore essentially has given herself a horrible name in the industry because she scabbed. Hopefully no one else will.

Drew Barrymore has reversed course this morning, after receiving horrendous tongue lashings, bashings and pressure from Rosie O'Donnell, Debra Messing and so many others,

and she said will be taking a "pause" with her show.

Immediately after her announcement, Jennifer Hudson and The Talk on CBS have also announced they too are taking a "pause."

Bill Maher said he will also pausing. But, mentioned he originally had decided to continue his show as the talks had seemed to be stalled with no end in sight. Now that there seems to be some movement with scheduled talks between the writers and the studios upcoming, and the possibility of something happening, he's pausing for now and will see how things go.


On the SAG front, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, (AMPTP,) reached out to SAG a couple days ago and asked to continue negotiations again.

The 600 Ford employees already removed from the Michigan plant were due to "strike at Michigan Assembly Plant’s final assembly and paint departments, because the components built by these 600 employees use materials that must be e-coated for protection. E-coating is completed in the paint department, which is on strike"
