I think you have me mixed up with someone else lol I never said "go to legoland" and I never said "so is lecturing"(in fact that was directed to me)

I didn't suggest it was you. I suggested that you're rather selective in what is constructive, bashing, ranting etc. I.e., what you disagree with is ranting/not constructive and what you agree with is not ranting and is constructive.

Look, this obviously means way more to you than to me, based on post count alone, so...sorry if I upset you.

no not at all.. I really have no stake on either side.. I'm not against the changes, yet I'm not a Disney apologist (though I do love Disney immensely), I'm a I don't care I'll have a good time anyway guy.. If anything If you look through my number of post, I'm just suggesting to both sides calm down. I have no bias here I was just saying it be better to RATIONALLY discuss it rather than screaming at each other. Not saying the OP was ranting, but it got people going. yes I make sarcastic comments here or there, it's my nature, but it's never intended maliciously. So selective? no.. I just as soon wag my fingers to both sides for filling a supposable good natured forum into something dreadful..

Problem being, this is supposed to be a Disney informative site, not a venting or psychoanalysis site.

According to the Disboards home page, its a "discussion" site :) .

You cannot measure what a person spends at WDW on or off site alone. I can stay off site and eat every single meal at WDW off the dinning plan maybe costing me more. Shop just as much. Pay for perks like cruises, rent bikes, play in the arcades etc all staying off site. So just b/c you sleep there does not mean you spend more there.

But if I stay onsite, and do all those things too, then I absolutely am paying more, just on the hotel price alone!

There's definitely some interesting points to ponder down that road (especially assuming off site/day guests will eventually have access to FP+).

For example, I know a bunch of people buy whatever ticket is on sale on UCT, and then bridge to whatever they're looking for on site (after using it to go through the turnstiles ONCE).

FP+ makes that process a bit more limiting...because if you buy a 5 day ticket, for example, with the eye toward bridging it to a 7 day ticket...you only get 5 days worth of FP+ prior to arrival (right? I think that's right...you only can make FP+ for the duration of the linked ticket you have?).

It also sort of forces you, if you want access to FP+, to buy your tickets pretty far in advance. Which means Disney gets to hold your money a bit longer (or maybe not longer...again, I don't know). It also allows them some logistical planning windows that they might not otherwise have had.

Oh, this is a rabbit hole that might be fun to do down....

FP+ is already set up linked to the park ticket, not the resort stay. The resort stay only triggers your invitation to make FP+ reservations during this short testing period. Right now, you can book one night at a Value hotel which gives you a 14 day FP+ reservation window. If you have a 10 day ticket you can make 10 days of FP+ reservations. It does not matter that you are not staying at Disney the other 9 nights. FP+ is currently linked to the ticket, not the resort stay.

You are right that it could make bridging a problem, or picking up your tickets when you get there a problem.

I see a lot of wishful thinking by some posters that FP+ should be an on site perk but that does not appear to be the case. Nor is it implied in any of the information Disney had published.

Did I say you made it up out of thin air? :confused3

You implied that if people just researched, they would have known just like you did. I'm just saying that it wasn't common knowledge at this time last year, and someone not knowing about the testing isn't necessarily necayse they didn't put enough work into finding out.

There were a lot of rumors at this time last year, and yes there was testing going on that people were being selected for randomly when they got off of ME - but it wasn't widespread knowledge or testing parameters as it is now and there was no way to know at that time that this is what it would be like now.

You are right about that poster. She did imply that. Along with the idea that offsiters deserve to be left out of FP+ because they are staying offsite. Complete lack of compassion and empathy.

:rotfl2:

Be careful sarcasm/wit isn't allowed. :thumbsup2

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

I wasn't being sarcastic!! I was showing positive reinforcement! I like letting people feel good about themselves even with the most trivial of accomplishments! :rolleyes1

actually the reason this conversation is so many pages long is because of what I've added to the conversation

Yes! absolutely you've achieved so much in such a short time! Good for you! You're going places!

and, you'll be happy to know that as much of an offsite advocate that I am. I just made a ressie for Fort Wilderness for Christmas Week of 2014. My wife said she would like to spend next CHristmas at Disney because it's been so long since we have done it. My kids finally are old enough that they don't believe in Santa and I spent one of my best Christmas' in my younger years at Fort Wilderness.

Now will we actually use the ressie or cancel and rent a house will be the big question?

I just wanted to make sure we had a booking at the Fort because they disappear quick around Christmas

I do feel sorry for those who didn't know about the changes.
I also feel sorry for those off site that don't get to select FP+.
I even feel sorry for you.

Just maybe not in the way you think I should.

Universal gives the option to purchase the privilege. Not apples to apples.

Op, we are off site in a couple of weeks. I almost switched but decided 2 bedrooms for $250 was too sweet. I love some time to myself:)

Hopefully they cut the double dipping soon. Then those same people will be stuck with only three fp's and a glitchy system;)

Actually, at Universal the option that offsite guests purchase doesn't compare with what onsite guests get with their room keys. Offsite guests get ONE go round on each ride, while onsite can ride FOTL over and over and over. So it seems Disney might give FP+ to onsite while offsite will have to buy into FP+. So in the end it might be apples to apples.

For us, FP+ is the only reason we are staying on property this trip and if we were limited to 3, we would not be as likely to revisit in the future. Universal makes staying onsite a real perk.

Actually if you kept reading you'd see that there is an option to purchase the unlimited version. Lol we dealt with this many pages ago:)
