Unfair :(

How much do you pay per night/week for that 1 bedroom villa that has exactly 1 bed?

1 king sized bed, 1 queen size pull out sofa, 500 more square feet of room, washer/dryer, full kitchen, whirlpool tub? A decent amount but it's worth every dime.

It's soooo much fun queuing for a bus when you leave the parks and waiting to get on one, and then you get the bonus!!!! You get to STAND on a bus after walking all day crammed in with a bunch of people that don't have a clue what deodorant is.

Maybe this has been your experience and you don't enjoy staying onsite due to where you have stayed and the busses not being to your liking. But I have seen more posts in this thread stating that they have had great experiences with the busses. That is why there are two options 1. staying off site and 2. staying onsite. One option not being the right choice for you does not make it the wrong choice for someone else.

We never stay on property any more either so I completely agree with you. Their transportation is so bad it is just not worth it nor a perk I don't have 2-3 hours a day to spend on a bus

IIRC, you have special needs (ECV?) that aren't well met by the Disney bus system.

As for us, the bus system is actually the primary reason we DO stay on-site. My husband was suspicious at first, but after experiencing it for himself, he was sold. For us, letting "Disney do the driving" is a wonderful part of our vacation. We enjoy meeting other vacationers, and having conversations with people from all around the world on the bus. We don't find a day in the parks particularly exhausting or hard on our feet, either.

We've never waited more than 20 minutes for a bus. Most of the time, we're hopping on board in less than 10 minutes. And we love the convenience of being dropped right off in front of the gates. :thumbsup2

Everyone's needs are different. If we were a family of six, we'd probably stay off-site for the room. If we had an ECV, we probably wouldn't use Disney transportation. Fortunately for us, our needs align very nicely with what Disney provides.

I was at AOA and would never stay there. I have stated this many times....motel with WDW pictures and loud paint all over it does not change the fact that it is still a motel. There are nice motels all over and WDW values fall into that category, but a motel it still is. Sleeping on a table that people eat on by day is not my idea of an enjoyable vacation either, but that is just me. Some love it. Doesn't make them wrong, but a lot of people don't think that the values are somehow better than a decent motel in any other vacation town just because it has the WDW stamp on it.

I get what you're saying, but is it no different than sleeping on sheets that other people did who knows what on at any hotel or resort?

I've never stayed at a Value but aren't they priced exactly the same or even cheaper than a Red Roof Inn?

And if your into the Disney vibe than it is light years better than a Red Roof, especially for the kids who flip out with joy over all the Ariel or Cars stuff.

Yeah, we get it. YOU don't like it. But other people don't mind using the Disney bus system.

It's slow at times, but I like it. Rarely do we end up standing. The buses are clean, play music corresponding to wherever you are headed, have great AC in the summer, and provides a comfortable alternative to driving.

but you don't mind being a slave to Disney's horrible transportation system?

See, I don't think Disney's transportation system is all that terrible at doing what it's designed to do: Move people from hotel to park and back. It's not stupendous, but it's relatively efficient and cost effective. It gets over run at certain times...but then, I sit in a line of traffic when we have a car at park closing, too.

From hotel to hotel? Terrible. But then, so is pretty much every hotel shuttle in Orlando (unless it's a shared shuttle and you're going to one of the "shares).

But then..you're not paying "extra" for it (I refuse to call it free..it's built into your room rate), either. You're not renting a car, for example.

What do you find that's so much worse than the off site shuttle services?

No, the Values have gone up quite a bit in recent years, but still are a decent "value". Beats the hell out of a Red Roof Inn, plus, it's on property, has awesome pools, the best food courts, and best bus transportation.

I'm far from a Disney apologist, but for anyone who is tired of slow, crowded, problematic 'free' bus transportation, I recommend they use Magical Express instead.

I hate the word motel. Use hotel. Way fancier ;)

if Disney wanted to offer perks to on site guests, they should offer included Park admission (at a discount) for the length of stay with every reservation.

They shouldn't handicap offsite visitors that are paying the same exact amount for Park admission as on site guest.

For me personally, I've never had an issue with the bus, and that's mostly because it suits my personal needs. So, with that in mind, I can understand why some people may not be interested.

This goes back to my earlier point, some people do not stay off site to save money. They want space and will spend more money on other perks they do not get b/c of picking that option. I will not give up my space, so I will pick off site every single time and will gladly pay more for the perks I would have gotten if I stayed in an on site room . I am not going to be happy (and neither will the rest of my crew) smashed into a hotel room for a week, that is our choice. I am happy that some parks get that and are still willing to take my money for extra perks. I do know that I read that WDW would be offering this to off site so I am hopeful that it will happen. I am also hopeful that you will be able to purchase FP in the future. It will make it much more likely our family will spend time in WDW.

Just be aware: That offering of Uni Express Unlimited is relatively recent (and likely has more to do with their opening their budget hotel than it does with anything else).

For YEARS, the only way to get Unlimited was by being a hotel guest.

And I've got no issue with any resort owner giving their on site guests additional perks. Even if they choose to keep them "exclusive" to that population.

I don't view that as unfair, really. But YMMV.

I agree with this... Disney used to offer length of stay passes but stopped that years ago. I did really like that option.

So everything would be okay as long as disney gave a few dollars off park admission to make it "fair"

You hold no logic.

That I cannot answer...I don't think we have that chain here. I am not saying that I do not get the appeal for families, I am just saying that it does not appeal to my family and that not all people think that it is a great place to stay.

Good thing they're not going to do that huh?

Ok this went from unfair FP system for onsite guests to complaining about the bus system. Got to love it!:rotfl:

But who on here has seriously good info, knows about it, this MagicBand and FP+ system? Or a good thread on it maybe? I am going in December and don't know half of what's going on with it. I do I know if I am going to be involved or not? BTW, we are staying in a cabin at Ft Wilderness, if that helps.

I usually catch on pretty quick with stuff but with all the info or lack of and everyone's input on it, I am getting confused.:rotfl2:
