Hi all!
We are taking DS's friend along on our spring break trip; we fly in on 3/24 and we hit the parks 3/25-4/1. In texting with the friend's mom this afternoon, I found out his birthday falls on 3/27! I had NO idea, and I'm scrambling!! We've never celebrated a birthday at WDW, so I'm at a loss. We will definitely make sure the friend gets a "happy birthday" button, and mom will send a birthday banner and a small present with me. But, beyond that, I'm stumped. We have a reservation for lunch at Tony's Town Square on his birthday. The WDW website says you can only add a birthday cake to the reservation in person at Tony's at least 4 days in advance; but, we won't be there 4 days in advance. There are a few restaurants that allow adding a cake to the reservation, and I asked my TA to see if she can switch reservations around to a restaurant that allows ordering a cake beforehand, but so far nothing's available for his birthday.

Should I go to Tony's in person and beg when we arrive? I'm worried that I won't have other options if that's a no-go. Or, are there other options for a cake that I'm not aware of. Any help or advice to make this kiddo's birthday special would be so greatly appreciated! TIA!

I would go to Tony's as soon as the open on the day of your reservation and request the cake. According to info on WDW's website, they have a limited number of cakes for day-of requests, so you may have some luck if you go early. If they do not have the cake, you could at least have the birthday noted on the reservation in the hopes they will do something special with his dessert. You could also try e-mailing to see if they would add the podium cake to your reservation ahead of time: WDW.Magic.Kingdom.Specialty.Desserts@Disney.com

Where are you staying? There is a group called "Ears for You" which consists of former cast members who have started their own businesses after being laid off from WDW - there are many bakers in the group and may be able to deliver a cake, cupcakes or cookies to your hotel.

Disney Floral and Gifts can also deliver items directly to your resort room. http://disneyworld.disneyfloralandgifts.com/home.do

If Tony's doesn't work out you can always go to Plaza Ice Cream Parlor for ice cream sundaes!!!

We have been several times over the years on DH’s birthday including this past November and he always wears the button. He has food allergies and at restaurants they noticed and have brought out sorbet with a candle in it and sometimes sung to as well.
