Underrated and overrated?

Love reading threads like this! It is interesting and also helpful for me as I plan (and replan and replan) our Sept trip :)

Overrated:
Space Mountain-definitely not as good as I remember it as a kid. I think I needed to see a chiropractor after my last ride.
Kali River Rapids-why don't you just spray me down with a water hose?
Plastic cheese-such processed nastiness.

Underrated:
Animal Kingdom-such a fun detailed park
Main Street Confectionery-probably one of my favorite places ever. Yum. I don't hear much about it though.
Living with the Land-so relaxing and informative.

Underrated:
Gran Fiesta Tour - It's cute and relaxing. I don't know, there's just something about the water and the volcano and the fake fireworks that melt away the stress for me.

Carousel of Progress - the last scene BADLY needs to be updated. But I love this corny tour of technological advances through the 20th century!

Voices of Liberty - My dream job at Disney would be singing with these folks!

Overrated:
Dinosaur - I just don't understand how this is a must-do for so many people on their AK days. :confused3 It's LOUD and jerky and the storyline is meh. We did it once on our very first trip, and didn't bother again for 6 years. We tried it again on our most recent trip wondering if we hadn't quite given it a fair shake the first time around. Nope, still the same dull and painful ride as always!

American Adventure show - Over the top, nauseating patriotism. I love history (Hall of Presidents and CoP are favorites), but AA just strikes the wrong tone for me. And the song at the end grates on my nerves! We come to the American pavilion for VoL and the little museum in the back, and then move on.

Fantasmic - it's all right, I guess. But it's far and away my least favorite of the night shows at WDW, and not at all worth the hassle of getting into the theater. We fought the crowds to see it once and have never bothered again.

Restaurant
I think kona breakfast is overrated. Was so excited to try pressed pot coffee. While very good we only got a mug and a half each out of the pot. Was sooo sad. I could have drank the whole thing myself. The food was just ok.

Under rated beaches and cream/LTT. We had two delicious meals from these places. We're so excited to return.

Rides

Over rated TSMM. Don't get me wrong it's fun. It is in no way worth a 90+ minute line.

Under rated. I'm always gonna root for the country bears. I love those goofy bears. A must do multiple times on each trip.

I'm loving this thread, it's great to see people's opinions.

Overrated
Maelstrom
Dinosaur
Peter Pan flights (not a bad ride but always a long queue)

Underrated
Philharmagic (our favourite attraction)
Monsters inc. laugh floor
Disney quest
Star tours
Lights motors action

Overrated:

MSEP (Sorry, Spectromagic will always be king)

Cinderella's Royal Table - Overpriced, food is mediocre, meeting the princesses is good for kids though.

Tomorrowland Speedway - Long waits for a "racer" I can walk faster than.

Captain EO - Maybe not overrated by guests but why does WDW have this? It is a cheap and bad replacement to HISTA. If not HISTA make a new interesting imagination related 3D show.

Peter Pan's flight - How the heck does this ride ALWAYS have a long wait? It is sort of neat if you were a kid but waiting 50+ minutes (which it seems like it always is) is ridiculous for how short of a ride it is and not high tech at all.

Underrated:

Philharmagic - I miss the Lion King but this was a great replacement. Love being able to go into many of my favorite Disney movies!

Great Movie Ride - Love being able to go into the movies. The CM who is your guide makes (or can break) your experience on this ride. I've had a bad CM with no enthusiasm but at least the rest were wonderful.

Ellen's Energy Adventure - I know the current version is old but it is still a very good story line. Bill Nye the Science Guy and Ellen did a great job with it and made it interesting and entertaining.

Celebrate the Magic (projection show on castle) - What a great idea that doesn't permanently modify the castle and can easily be edited or recreated (IE adding Frozen)

Mission: Space - Yes I know it replaced Horizons (I've been on it but was too young to remember it) but this is a fun ride if you don't get motion sickness.

Overrated:
Boma (I know, I know...many people love it. We were totally underwhelmed with breakfast.)

Fantasmic: It was okay, but my least favorite out of the 3 parks. Not something I would have to do again.

Dole whips

Disney busing (this is just personal preference for me. I don't like having to sit on a crowded bus, on a HOT day, with 200 other people, and stopping every 3 minutes to drop off/pick up. What took 10 minutes to drive, takes 45 on the buses. On the other hand, I do think it's a great perk that Disney offers for its guests. Just not for me.)

Captain EO. I really don't like Michael Jackson and this is really outdated. Wish they would bring back Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

Underrated:

Animal Kingdom

Fort Wilderness Resort (as a whole. The cabins, the extras to do around the resort)

Stitch's Great Escape. We loved it. I know, people hate hate hate it, but we thought it was fun. It's my daughter's favorite movie.

I am very bummed that Mickey's Philharmagic will be closed when we are there. Seems like everyone loves it and we missed it the first time we were there, too. It must close in September. :sad2:

underrated: the boardwalk in the evening. they have magicians and lots of stores, you can also see the fireworks from epcot!! its really quite lovely. its just as much fun as dtd, just a whole lot less packed!!!
