Unborrowing points

My first year of ownership I wanted to do a split stay at a couple of resorts w/ my new points to try out resorts on my short list for adding on. I learned a lot, first, I learned not to book all of my nights at my home resort if I wanted to try & split stay at 7 months. Second, I learned that the first 2 weeks of Dec. were very tough to book. Third, I learned that futzing around with my reservations adding here, dropping there resulted in a mess of banked & borrowed points I couldn't use for my next vacation forcing me to borrow more points. It was such a relief when I'd worked through that era & settled in to my KISS era.
Its definitely a bad feeling knowing that you borrowed all these points you dont need. I was borrowing points for a 2 bedroom and a 2 bedroom lockoff at the same resort because they were both missing one night, and waitlisting the one night on both, thinking it was a good idea when really I was going to have to drop one full reservation of borrowed points if one went thru🤣🤣 Thank God for reallocation and pixie dusting 🤣🤣

I've only been able to 'save' borrowed points when I could swap points used on existing vacations.

Being 'new' is a great boon. We bought points in August 2018 for our December UY and the first item brought up was did I want to bank those points since I was already past our banking window. Thank goodness because those where the most expensive points we ever bought and cured us of addonitis.

I have quickly learned that you need to be extremely careful when borrowing points for alternate possible reservations for the fact that they cannot be banked or undone.

Drunk on new points, I borrowed 7 more points than I needed for next year because I dropped a reservation, which means those would be lost if not used. There would be nothing i could book for 7 points and i didnt want to buy otup and book a random studio for 1 night.

When i asked members services how many points I borrowed and realized i went over, I almost fell out of of my seat when the agent asked ME if I wanted to unborrow those points when I asked what people do in this situation.

I treat my one transfer like gold and did not want to use it for this. She was able to unborrow them and put them bank in the original use year. My experience with members services is that they are very rigid with the rules. Is this generally easily given as an option if you mess up in borrowing or was I just lucky this was offered to me? This was my first time messing up with borrowing.
What they can do is take those 7 points and move them onto your existing reservation and then bank the current use year points you were going to use to next year. Not a perfect solution, but workable if they can't help you fix the issue.
