Not sure if I missed this news. I recently had a waitlist fulfilled to add a night to my existing reservation. Same resort / room type. I've always emailed to request to merge my reservations via the contact us link. This time, I got the following response:

Thank you for contacting Disney Vacation Club®.

We appreciate your interest in your Membership and will be happy to provide you with additional direction. We invite you to contact Member Services by phone or chat online at DisneyVacationClub.com to speak with a Vacation Advisor with regards to your request.

Due to the nature of these requests we are unable to provide any additional assistance via email at this time. We appreciate your understanding.

Member Services is available Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM ET, and Saturday – Sunday, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM ET. Vacation Advisors are available by phoning (800) 800-9800 or (407) 566-3800. Press Option 1, then Option 1 and it will bring you to a Vacation Advisor who can assist you.

We look forward to hearing from you soon so that we can continue to assist you in planning yours or your Guests magical vacation!

I did not know we had to chat or call to request merging now. Does this have something to do with requiring the personal use question?

I realize you posted to let us know that you couldn't request a merger by email.

But if you are interested in a recent thread about mergers done by phone, there's this one:

If you're not interested:
never mind.

That's probably because you have to accept the terms regarding personal use now.
I guess you are right - but in that case why not just say, that due to new implemented policies in which we require you to attest to our personal use clause you either need to chat to call.

That way owners who used to do it like this know why they can't anymore and it would be much more transparent.

MS now wants us to accept their new terms even though/if the reservation was made before the new rule. I had the same response.

I have said it before, I find it silly, I am the member - added my cousin to the reservation and MS still has to ask if it's for personal use - What else would I use it for......routine question - no biggie of course.

I appreciate that DVC is trying to ensure reservations are for personal use only. Not that it will make any difference to all these reservations that are posted for rent for high demand rooms and times. Rant over.

It’s basically to remind owners of the T and C and to have a record of it in case they do flag an owner who could be in violation of the commercial purpose policy.

So, whether it’s you, family or friends, or an renter, it’s personal use, unless the number of reservations exceeds the current limits that triggers that review.

That’s why they ask even when an owner is staying…personal use is not defined to mean the owner is staying.
