First off I a sorry if this question has been asked before. Can someone please tell me what an Ultimate Park Hopper Ticket looks like? Is it like a plastic credit card, or piece of paper, and does it have your picture on it, or is it decorated differently from other passes?

The Ultimate Park Hopper is the same as your plastic room key card. You use it to open your room, enter the parks, charge purchases and meals, etc.

Last week, ours had a picture of Tinkerbell, I think.

Thank YOU! Sounds like I will only have one plastic card to store and not two. One less thing for me to worry about miss placing.

Another benefit... if you lose it, it's sooooo easy to replace! They'll reissue you a new one without any hassle at all. Not so if you lose your Park Hopper. I never used to have problems like that years ago, but with Fast Pass you are constantly whipping it out, thus increasing your opportunities to lose it.

If you are using a regular ticket, be sure to copy down all the info on the back of each ticket. You can go to the customer service and have your lost Park Hopper pass cancelled and reissued.

It's actually really easy.

I read in one of the guide books that if you charge anything to your room, you can only pay with credit card.

Is that true?

I'm trying not to use my creditcard to avoid the atrocious exchange rate fee snuck by the bank.

They ask for a credit card for security purposes, however check out time you can pay by any means you want - cash, check, cc, travelers check - even disney dollars if you want. Heck, you can pay your resort using disney dollars.:)

Even if you pay with cash at checkout, the resort will hit your card for a preauthorization for a certain amount (1000, 1500 ?) when you check in. The preauthorization will expire 10 days later since it won't be used.

The only effect is your available credit will be reduced for that 10 day period.

I'm not worried about the credit limit reduction due to pre-authorized thingie, just the dreaded blog-in-your-head currency exchange rate.

Just a tidbit people should know about. If they aren't planning on the hold and they start using their card for off property stuff, they may end up with some declines.

I'd also call the credit card company and let them know when you will be traveling. My card company watches fraud like a hawk.

Can you explain regarding the "they may end up with some declines"?

Is it because of the fraud protection or is it because of lack of credit headroom?

I have never had a "hold" put on the funds on my credit card or debit card at WDW. They put through a charge of $1 when you check in. I continued to use my debit and cc off property also with no problems.

I would suggest calling WDW and asking them before you go.

I am just passing on a warning that the Group Reservation CMs at WDW told me.

With my card they watch spending patterns and when something seems out of place (like charges within a day of one another from two different parts of the country) they decline with a "please call". THe person at the register calls, then I talk to them, verify who I am and validate the charge. I can avoid this if I tell them ahead of time. It can be a hassle, but I like the protection.

I've had this happen. It has nothing to do with WDW, and everything to do with the fraud checks in place with your credit card company. I can't provide any greater details...beacuse frankly I don't care that much. :)

In our situation, we spent a 6 days at WDW, occasionally charging to a credit card with substantial credit available. About 15 minutes before we left MK for the last time, we tried to buy one of those child's plate/cup/silverware sets at a stand near Space Ranger Spin. The charge was no more than $20. It came back declined, at which point a shrugged and paid cash.

When I got home I had a message on my answering machine from the card company security department asking that I call and discuss recent activity on the card.

Although consumers aren't on the line for fraudulent charges placed on our cards, I'm sure there's a lot of expense to be absorbed by the card companies when stolen cards are used. While these situations can be inconvenient, a call to the card company either before a trip or after a deline occurs can rectify the situation in a couple of minutes. I've maybe had this happen 3 times in 10+ years.
