Gee I just innocently went to Curves to do my 1/2 hour work-out. (Why is it when there are 26 different places to start the circuit, these women always gather close-by? I NEVER jump right next to someone, unless it's crowded.)So there's just me and a woman on each side of me - the one on my right says that she currently has great healing power - she can feel it surging through her. What the...?! So if either of us has need for any kind of healing - she can help. She says that she just touched a woman in the bank for a mere minute, and her bum knee felt so much better. Wow - I guess I'm a non-believer. I'm such a traditionalist when it comes to healthcare. Oh...I pray to God to help heal someone - even me - but that's between Him & me - I don't use a medium. I said nothing, just kept on doing my exercise - with a little more intensity, I might add! One woman who was doing her stretches took the healer up on her offer - not sure of that outcome.

I noticed you live in California - seems to be a higher percentage of people with "different" beliefs out there.

I am a magnet for people like this. I'm also a magnet for every person in the mall bathroom line that needs to talk about their corns, screwy kids, phlebitous, migraines, or visions of the 2nd Coming. My best friend refuses to go into large groups of people with me because she knows she'll get sucked in as well!! She always says "don't make eye contact!!!!!" But inevitably, I do and that's the open door. Oh well, I try to be as courteous as possible and move on. Sometimes it is NOT easy though!!!

hey... ;)

Our rather mainline Episcopal church started a "healing ministry" a few years ago.

At Communion, people in need of "healing" can go to the alcove and a "healing minister" prays with you and lays on their hands.

While I believe in spirituality and the power of prayer, this is a bit much.

DH and I are physicians, and we feel that we are real "healers" . . .

:rotfl2: I would have handed her my check book and asked her to do a little healing there.

Our Methodist congregation does not have this ministry as such, though we do have prayer services dedicated to prayers for healing. In DW's world as a physician, she will often pray with a patient when the patient asks for it and feels that spirituality often plays a very large role.

Do you have an MP3 player? Bring that with you next time and crank it up so you can't hear the loony babble!

Works like a charm!!!!!

I've had my share of crazies. Back in WA state while I was waiting at a bus stop an East Indian man approached me and told me something was wrong with my ovaries. A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant. :confused3

I'm a big believer in science and modern medicine, however energy healing (pranic healing) is an alternative treatment that I do believe in, not only because I've seen it work, but my dad is a pranic healer and has been for more than 15 years.

My dad is a member of the International pranic healing organization and they have members from all over the world. The thing about pranic healing is that it doesn't deal with psychic mumbo jumbo and it's a healing technique that can be taught and learnt. He's has friends who are healers who are also medical doctors.

Although I didn't disbelieve it, I was never one to partake in "healing of the hands" - that was until I got cancer myself. The power of prayer and belief is a very nice complementary therapy, though many - like myself - may not fully appreciate it until they themselves need it. ;)

With that said, though, I wouldn't appreciate it if I didn't ask for it. :teeth:
