We have stayed everywhere except BCV and SSR. Each has it's own appeal. I will say that for stays of over 5 days, I really like OKW. The extra space is just awesome for longer stays. It's also great when you take guests with you.

When it's just our family and we're limited to only 2-4 days, we seem to prefer other resorts "closer to the action". We want to get in/out of the action quicker. I think it depends on what you want out of your vacation.

OKW is great to entertain friends and for relaxing after long days in the parks with just your family. If you want "action", then one of the other resorts may be better suited for your next trip.

I do think once the pool slide is finished, OWK will have more "action" and look forward to staying there again.

Shan, If you think you and your family might really like OKW, then give it another chance. Like you said, it is a possibility that you might get a HA room at any of the resorts. On the other hand, we almost stayed there about 10 years ago when our kids were 12 and 9 and I didn't like the idea of crossing all those streets to get to the main pool. Those busses seemed to drive pretty fast. We didn't like it and asked the front desk to try and get us another room at a different resort which they were more than happy to do for us. Now that our kids are grown, I would be willing to give OKW another chance if BCV or BWV weren't available or if I needed to save some points.

By the way, I thought you and your DH looked like the perfect couple in your Halloween outfits!

I noticed on your signature that you have been to all the DVC resorts except SSR in the last year. You know better than anyone else if you would prefer another resort over OKW. I voted that you try to change you reservation and come back to OKW another time.

I had just about the same problem at BCV. I also checked in late (after 11:00 pm) and we were given a handicapped studio. We had water all over from the roll-in shower, no shelving in the bathroom, limited space in the kitchenette area because of the placement of the microwave, etc. It was a pain. I will never check in that late again and if my plane arrives late I will stay somewhere else that night. I think there is a much higher probability that the late check-in will get the undesireable room, if only for the fact that an earlier check-in might have already rejected the "bad" room.
