My DH called me at 2:30 to say he was having severe chest pain and couldn't breathe. Of course I told him to call 911 but he didn't want to do that because he "didn't want everyone in the office watching him leave in an ambulance"
, so I asked him to have one of his coworkers to drive him to the hospital. I ran around putting the kids in the car only to realize that with the snow we've had I couldn't get our front-wheel-drive car out of our development and was never going to make it downtown, not to mention the fact that our hospital won't let anyone under 18 inside, anyway. Fortunately, our pastor offered to drive me in his truck and another friend let us drop the kids at her house on the way out. I raided our safe of the cash we had stashed there (grabbed it all in a panic, thinking I might have to pay for parking, etc., and didn't just grab $20 - stupid me) before I left. Got to the hospital and the good news was it wasn't a heart attack. He has a punctured lung and they have no idea how it happened ("spontaneous pneumothorax"??), but they kept him overnight on oxygen and morphine. Thank goodness for insurance, but hello high-deductible coverage. Got home only to discover that the cash I grabbed must have fallen out of my pocket and I couldn't find it anywhere.
I called the pastor and he found it in his truck, so I'm glad it turned up, but I feel physically drained and a little ill over the day in general. It's supposed to keep snowing tonight into tomorrow and I have no idea how I'm going to get him home from the hospital, but I guess I'll worry about that tomorrow. I'm so thankful it wasn't worse, but ugh - I think I'm ready for this day to be over! With the high deductible, we are looking at a nice chunk of change. I'm really glad for the emergency fund and the bit we've got left in the Health Savings Account, but I think the budget is going to be pretty tight for awhile.

Glad to hear your DH is okay.
