Dh just informed me of this, so we're going to talk in-depth over the lunch hour and decide if we should postpone or not. When we went last January, it rained and was cold half the time we were there. It definitely put a 'damper' on our trip.

Are you going next week? We are too. No postponing for us though.

Yes, we're supposed to leave the 11th and come back the 17th. This is a last-minute planned trip, and the only things we actually have tickets for so far are SW, Aquatica, and our airline tickets. It wouldn't bother me at all to postpone, but just have to work around our boys' motocross schedule and planning my daughter's graduation party. I just think since we're going to be doing so much water activity on this trip, rain would really be a bummer.

We are there before you then...8-12.

That far out, I'd be very skeptical of the weather forecast. Good luck deciding what to do.

I think your dates look good, as far as weather goes. I suppose we can wait a couple more days before we decide for sure.

it really sucks when you have a lot of rain when you go to the parks.
you're lucky you have plan B to fall back on and can reschedule.

i would have to turn my world upside down if i would have to rearrange my trip dates.

well, sometimes the forecasts a week out change.
i say take a chance and go for the trip as planned.

too bad you can't make a change of plans the day prior to leaving.
that would be ideal just in case the forecasts don't change.

It rained quite a bit last January when we were at Disney, and it really was a bummer. Didn't help that it was 40ish degrees a couple days, also. So yeah, I don't really want to deal with that again. Thankfully, we are fairly flexible and can change plans if need be. Although, I'd like to know within a couple days if we're going or not. Lodging (or lack of it) is stressing me out.

i was in the parks last january and it sucked with the rain.

i was watching the forecast a week before i left so i packed for lousy weather.
first night i was there, heavy rain and 36 degrees.
not fun on the outdoor rides, especially doing astro orbiter.....

i don't blame you for changing your trip dates.
i couldn't, didn't have the flexibility with the dates.
the motherland portion of my trip was etched in stone for the room....
and the adr's too.

do what you have to do, but i hope the weather is good for you for the time you do go.

Thank you! Just for the heck of it, I checked on availability of rooms mid-April, and wow!! I could get a Portofino Parlor Suite with connecting Queen room for $412! That sounds great, compared to what we'll be paying for 2 rooms per night if we go right now. And hopefully, weather will be a bit warmer, and crowds a bit smaller.

The weather forecast changes every day and in Orlando it seems like every hour aometimes. Plus, you run the risk of bad weather on your postponed trip. We were just there and swimming on a day when it was supposed to be colder and rainy! Good luck!

That's true. It would truly stink to postpone, and then deal with this all over again. Does the weather there now seem okay for a day at Aquatica?

what i saw on accuweather for orlando, i think you could handle aquatica.

but then, i'm far north of chicago and today has been our warmest day yet.
so don't listen to me.
anything over 50 in orlando would be shorts weather if you are coming from a place with ice and snow.

April is technically the beginning of hurricane season. Luckily, it's usually the fall that sees the worst ones. I just don't know how much you can avoid weather in Orlando. We can't move our trip with a kid in school. So, it's week after next or wait until summer, for which we already have a different vacation planned. We don't do water rides/things, unless you count going to the park in the rain a water ride:)

I have to admit though, high 30s/low 40s would be hard for us, not to mention rain too. The blood really thins out in Texas. It's supposed to be 29 here tomorrow night, and I think the whole town is going to shut down as usual.

Uh... hurricane season for the Atlantic doesn't start until June with August through October being peak season. That will not be a concern in April.

Op if you're going for fun in the sun and can change your tickets then I'd go for April. We've got to get out of this funky cool wet weather the southeast has had all winter eventually. Doesn't look like that will be next week though.

I've been checking every day. Not looking too promising. I SO wanted to have sunny days for pool lounging.

This is so discouraging. Hubby told me to go ahead and book our Discovery Cove day for the 14th, because it's looking like that's the sunniest day of our trip. So I get off the phone with DC, go check the weather again, and now it's showing showers for that day! :sad2:

Looking on the brighter side, however, 70-80's and showers is better than 20's in Kansas. :)

I must be thinking of the Gulf, since that's what I usually only worry about.

plus, sometimes when the forecast is rain, people stay away and you have a less crowded park! that's happened to us! we also spent a fun, rain showery/but warm day at aquatica!

We're leaving Tuesday too for Discovery Cove, Universal and Seaworld. Our Discovery Cove day is Friday the 13th! I've been watching the weather for the past two weeks and it has literally changed every day. I waffled back and forth on the DC day and finally decided to just leave it as is. There's going to be showers no matter what day I pick but the temperature is a LOT warmer than here in Michigan so we'll be fine. I can take 80 degree weather with showers over sunny days at -25 degrees.

That's a great way to look at it! :)
