UGH! Lost Shipment!

Dell shipped the original laptop on 12/13. It was at our local FedEx as of 12/14The local FedEx office confirmed that one of their employees had taken the laptop. My DS is and old enough to understand and wait one more day. I just feel bad for him. It has been a hard year for him, as he injured his back and has not been able to walk without assistace since September. I just want him to be happy on Christmas.

:grouphug: I'm sorry your son is injured. It really stinks that things seem to keep happening to him. Hopefully 2013 will be a much better year for him and that Fedex and Dell come through and make his Christmas right.

Just make sure when you get the laptop you receive the start up disks if anything happens to the computer.

I purchased a Dell laptop 3 yrs ago and had them install some Photoshop programs onto it. After using the program fine for a while it stopped working and I contacted Dell and then Adobe about the problem. Dell of course wanted to charge me $ to figure out what was wrong with it. Adobe finally figured out I didn't even have the original disks and they needed the # on it to find out what was wrong with the program. Well after many hours back and forth between both companies I found out I was suppose to have a bunch of disks with the laptop. I finally got a hold of Dell and asked them to send me all of the disks I should have received. The person on the other end said he could only send me some of the disks. I did not back down and insisted that I get every disk that should have come almost a year earlier with the laptop. They tried to get away with only sending me some of the disks and I called again. I had to threaten that I would send a letter of my experience with their company to every newspaper, radio and tv station that would listen. I still have a copy of that letter that was never sent. I eventually did get the remaining disks but also learned that they never should have installed the Adobe Photoshop Elements on my laptop without checking with me as I only purchased a laptop with an i3 core processor and the program needs i5 for it to do it's full capabilities (HD).

I am in the process of purchasing a new desktop - guess what, it won't be a Dell!

Now I hope I never hear that word (Dell) again.

Sorry about the issue OP. Can you maybe copy a picture of it and tell him it's on it's way? I know it would fly with some kids but not others.

I have had major problems with Fedex smartpost and Fedex refuses to do anything about a smartpost shipment. I have been having problems with them for a year with my packages ending up going back and forth through the same fedex locations over and over like nobody knows what to do so they send it back and forth like a hot potato. I finaly started emailing companies that use it and crossing them off my till of places to order from till they start shipping another method.

I recall a similar shipping snafu last year on the disboards. The OP in htat thread found out at the very last minute that only a guitar case shipped, not the guitar.

She was REALLY upset about it - but was encouraged by the rest of us - to put on her happy face, and to not get excited about the fact that it didn't show up. If I recall - she ended up giving the case, with $40 one dollar bills in it - similar to a street musician's case. Her sone was excited about both the money and the guitar that was going to be coming in the next week or so.

( I tried to search for the thread but was not able to.)

So - I am just posting the quick details - in hopes that you can find a creative way to give the computer sleeve...with the IOU that the computer is on its way.
