I've never broken a phone, so dropped the insurance on it. Of course, this would happen now. Ugh.

Yes, UGH!! Is there an Apple Store, or some sort of phone fix kiosk nearby? I would not be happy if I had to pay for a screen repair the day before my Disney vacation, but I think I would have to bite the bullet and have it fixed. Sorry I have no clue as to the cost, perhaps someone will chime in with an answer. Best of luck, and have a great trip in spite of this phone glitch.

DS15 shattered his iPhone 6 screen, playing air hockey. Took it to a place that fixes phones here, just a little independent shop, not an Apple Store. I think he charged us $140, or something like that. It did include a new glass screen protector. He had it ready in an hour. Good luck!

Unfortunately, no, we're in the boonies. So, I'm going to bite the bullet and head to Verizon. I normally steer clear of doing the "upgrades", because in my opinion, it's a ripoff, but I have no choice. When we're home, I may see if the screen is fixable, and if it is, we can keep it on hand for when one of my teens need an upgrade.
I know they're going to charge me the fee ($30 or so) for setting up a new phone, and that drives me nuts. After being with a company for over 20 years, you'd think they'd give you a break on that.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I shattered my phone for the first time ever on my last WDW vacation in 2013. I was actually at Universal and I was taking a picture when a lady walked right into me and my phone flew out of my hand and shattered. She didn't even know she had hit me and when I yelled at her she just stared at me. I ended up borrowing my daughters phone for the rest of the trip to take pictures, but it still put a bit of a damper on things.

Jumping on empathy bandwagon - so sorry about your phone screen especially right before you leave! I hope it all works out.

Oh my goodness, that would make me ill. I would hate having to borrow.

This JUST happened to me a couple weeks ago. Apple Store charged me $105 to replace my iPhone 6 screen. The best part was they couldn't calibrate the new screen, so they gave me a brand new iPhone 6. :)

This happened to me a day before I left for a vacation to California! I had my H's old iPhone 4s that I was able to transfer my number temporarily until my phone got fixed. I feel your pain!

Cost for an Apple Store to fix a screen is $109 for the iphone 6, $149 for the 6s plus, and $129 for all others. They can usually do it under an hour but call for an appointment before you head in, might be a ridiculous wait if you don't.

Total bummer!!

I was at the Apple Store the night before we left for Disney too because my phone kept randomly powering off, even when it had full battery! It was some sort of flaw that they totally knew about but because my phone was 2+ years old, they wouldn't replace.

The good news is that I had a brand spankin' new phone with an awesome camera (which was also broken in my old phone but I was just dealing with) just in time for our trip! I got some great shots and didn't have to lug the DSLR everywhere!

Our on-the-go-quick-repair for a .. broken/shattered screen .. is cover the

screen with shipping tape (the-clear-wide-tape-kind ) and the touch screen should still work.

That way you won't be susceptible to getting a .. sliver-of-glass or a glass-cut.

We now have tempered glass screen protectors .. purchased

via AMAZON .. for approximately $8.00 -10.00 (amazon prime)

There is a APPLE Store .. Mall at Millenia (Orlando,FL)

I cannot believe how much they charge for repairs. Luckily my teenage son is techie so he fixes ours whenever they break, which hasn't happened since we got otter boxes.

I second the tempered glass screen protector! My sister didn't realise her free protector that they put on when she got her phone was a glass one until she dropped her phone (it went skidding across the floor at the gym and was inches from falling down an entire floor!). The screen protector was shattered but the phone didn't have a scratch!

That is terrible! I hope you got it fixed or got an upgrade. I shattered my 5S last year and paid $129 to Apple. I know buy the tempered glass on Amazon and am glad I did because I have cracked two so far.

I will not let any of us leave Verizon without the phone in an otter box. Hope you get it resolved (I drop my phone constantly).

Ditto to all the recommendations for the tempered glass screen protector and buying it on amazon. My daughter goes through these like once a month. She has to pay for them and she paid for her phone so I don't mind changing the screen protector for her. It's sure a whole lot cheaper than getting the display replaced. She has AppleCare but that has a $99 deductible. We will save those two incidents for any water damage, which given her track record I see her definitely using.

Didn't shatter mine but during last trip my phone major glitches out was calling people opening apps all by itself when I'd try to take picture it would take about 30 continuously
Had to replace when I got home
