My dd keeps getting Itunes gift cards. While it is very nice that people are so generous, we can't possibly use all these. We still have $75 in our account and she got another $115 for her bday. The one is a $15, so I gave her cash and I can regift it.... do you get decent amount on ebay for the other $100. We rarely download anything anymore as they are content to just go to youtube and get the songs they want.

Maybe you can try one of the gift card exchanges online (Eg. Plastic Jungle, Gift Card Rescue, Gift Card Granny). Never tried them, but I'd be interested in how well they work.

Not to hi-jack your thread, but how do you get songs you want from youtube? I've never heard of doing that. Not that I know how to do much with itunes :rotfl:.

I agree with PP, try a gift card exchange program. I've used Plastic Jungle. They have bought gift cards I have had for cash. I did not receive the face value of the gift card but it was worth it to me. If you look on their web site you can list the gift card and amount, it will show you the money they will buy the card for.

Welll........I am a big ebayer and do buy gift cards a lot there so I would say sell them there. You will get really close if not face value for them. I haven't ever had trouble with ebay and purchasing.

If you're new to ebay or haven't ever used it w/ no feedback you may want to go a different route such as the trading above. I hadn't ever heard of that.

There are websites that parse youtube videos and convert to mp3. Of course, this would be VERY high on the copyright infringement spectrum. There's nothing like not using free money given to you to legally acquire and pay for content when you can do it illegally also for free :sad2:

Maybe they just listen to youtube, and don't put it on their ipods. My kids listen to their favorite songs on youtube all the time, but they just have it playing on the computer in the background. I don't think it is illegal just to listen to music on youtube.

I listen to music on youtube a lot too. Or if they have an Itouch, it's possible they're using streaming programs. You can stream just about anything these days from radio stations to podcasts.

After a while, and you've built up your library, there's less desire for new downloads. You might here a new song every once in a while, but it's not like you're trying to build a library.

No they just listen on you tube. They listen mostly to music to dance to(they are 9 and 12) so they just turn on youtube to dance to. Since they frequently like to change songs to dance to, they dont' want to really download them.

Maybe I will try ebay or just put in safety deposit box till we end up with an ipad or something. :confused3 The $76 we still have in there is from $100 I put on last Christmas!

That happened to us only once. One holiday my kids got iTunes cards from everyone. It took forever to use them. I think we may even have some songs left!

After that I made sure to tell family members we didn't need anymore cards. It seems like such a waste that you can't really use them and I am sure that isn't what the gift-giver intended.

Are there any new apps that your kids would want? I never really buy music, but definitely purchase a lot of apps.

I would check the gift card trading websites. I'm about to do that for our itunes gift cards. We haven't used anything in our account in over a year and still have gift cards sitting around from DH's birthday last september.

A bit judgemental?! Sheesh.

I have been buying and selling on Ebay for 13 years and I am still not completely comfortable with buying or selling gift cards there. I have done it but always worry until I use the card or get FB from the buyer - too many scammers out there :sad2:

Last unwanted card I had I sold using Gift Card Granny. They find the best deal for you. I have also used them to buy cards. They are basically a search engine for gift cards, from their site I have used Plastic Jungle, Gift Card Rescue, ABC Gift Cards and Cardpool - all with no problems at all :thumbsup2

Is it 1 giftcard with $100 on it, or is it several gift cards? If several, I would hang on to them to re-gift.

I read your post and it got me to wondering just how long I had been on ebay also.....you have me beat :)....I've only been buying/selling for 12 years. It's really came a long way!

and I can regift it
I never understand why people regift something that they don't like receiving themselves - kind of takes the generous thought out of buying someone a present! My kids keep getting them too and don't use them - maybe they were regifted as well!

Because some people might like the Itunes giftcard that others don't want.

It's not like she's regifting a pink fuzzy stuffed elephant infested with bugs or something.

I would just put them in their accounts. They will use those up so quickly when they get just a bit older. My son is constantly adding money to his Itunes account.

I found another $25 one in the drawer!:laughing:My idea of regifting was for those who I know don't have $200 worth of itunes cards or money sitting in their account unused. Obviously I would give it to a kid who I knew had an ipod and needed the itunes. Geesh... must we be so judgemental. :confused3
