Wow! That's HUGE! I'm so sorry. He works in the health care field and looks like a 30% pay cut is coming. I am just sick to my stomach. Looking at the budget to see what can be trimmed.
Might be time to start looking for another field of employment. Expecting people to work the same number of grueling hours for 70% of what they used to earn is just insane! It will only get worse as people jump ship and the remaining crew is expected to pick up the slack. BTDT as a former hospital employee.Less then 30 day notice. He is expected to continue working the same number of hours. Which is generally 50+ a week.
It is so very very frustrating because he has worked so very hard for this hospital for 20 years. He has been a loyal employee even when competion has tried to steal him away. Loyalty doesn't mean much any more

OP didn't say that her husband was not getting a bonus this year. She said that his PAY was being cut with less than 30 days' notice. It doesn't sound as if he was overpaid for whatever his role is within the healthcare industry. He was being pursued by the competition, which would have presumably been willing to negotiate a better salary. I think it may be time for the OP's husband to contact the competition to see what kind of options are available to him. It doesn't hurt to put feelers out. If he learns that the competition is cutting salaries the same amount, then he can at least feel better about maintaining his loyalty to the place he's currently working for.You don't know what the pay was to start.. so this may be the case, but it may not. You are jumping the guns.
My companies bonues well over double our income.. and in a blink went down to pretty much 0, due to market.. For the last 3 ish months I am making prolly 30% or less of what I was making earlier this yr. I work almost as many hours, but I certainly am not jumping ship.. I get paid okay for the industry and when the business picks up again wether 6 months of 4 yrs from now.. bonuses will come back.
I am so sorry for your DH and your family. It may be time to look, but prior to that think about what he makes compared to what he could realistically make elsewhere.. prior to jumping ship from the cut. Also if the wage they will be paying him is fair for the market. At DH job the industry has gone down significantly in IT, where if he left now, even with piddle increases over the last 10 yrs, if they drop his salary nearly 30% it would still be fair to the market.
