We are torn between staying at Contemporary/Fort Wilderness Cabins...so I thought we'd do a split stay..but IF Free Dining comes out..I remember there being caveats like you had to stay for 5+ days...so if we do 4 nights at Fort Wilderness and 3 nights at Contemporary could we still get Free Dining IF it comes out?

Or if it doesn't could we still get the 30-35% off Deluxe and 20% off Moderate if those come out for September? Anyone ever have problems with codes and split stays??

This will probably be our last trip to the world for at least a decade and want to make sure we have no "wishes we would haves" :)

Thanks!

Yes you could do Free Dining (in the event it's offered) at both but you will have to purchase two sets of tickets. There are strategies that minimize the impact of this such as booking the first set tickets to cover your entire stay and saving the second set for a future trip -that won't help you if you have no plans to return. Honestly Free Dining only works well for certain families; it might not be your best discount. We are 4 Disney adults and it still doesn't work well for us.

We currently are booked for a package with dining for the first part of our trip and room only for the second part: both parts use the 30% off discount. We really enjoy split stays because we enjoy the change up in proximity to different parks. Last year we did BC / AKL. This year we are doing BC / CR.

Your best bet,(if you're lucky enough to have the choice between two great discounts LOL) is to book the first part of your stay with the free dining and purchase tickets for your whole length of stay.

Then use the room only discount for your 3 nights at Contemporary and pay OOP for food.

When you check out of your WL your credits will be good until midnight so you could still use them the first day you are at Contemporary. Also, you will probably have some snack and CS credits left so you could use them up on the last day and stock up your fridge.

Personally I don't think it's worth it to get the FD package and have to pay extra for a set of tickets for the 2nd part of your stay. I'd go with Room only discount at Contemporary.

Don't forget you only have to buy a 1 day ticket to get the DDP you don't have to get them for length of stay! DDP goes by how many nights you stay not park days!

Now that being said a client of mine who was lucky enough to get a 35% off RO code for Sept a few months ago that wants to do a split stay at POR if FD comes out

I advised her to keep the AKL with 35 % RO just cut it from 6 days to 3 & pay OOP for meals & book POR with FD for the other 3..

For Free Dining it's been minimum 2 day tickets you need to purchase.

Edited to add that the PIN code we used for FD in Feb required a 5 night stay as well. So maybe a split stay won't work. No one knows until the discounts come out I guess!

I wasn't aware they had free dining in Feb? I was able to book a client in Dec for FD & only purchase 1 day ticket & they stayed 4nights... They were DVC so they moved to their home resort after & used their AP..

Ahh now I remember they offered Jan thru early March of 2013 but it had to be booked in 2012 sorry about that!

Free dining in February was only for people who were lucky enough to get a pin code. The general public wasn't offered free dining. We were there last February and had been hoping for FD, but it wasn't offered. :(
