Uber/Lyft or ART for the Parks

ART passes are for an all day (or you can get a small discount for multiple days), and since the OP talked about a mid day break, that is 4 trips, maybe more for the price, and the ART passes are also good on the OCTA local buses.

Pretty good deal IMHO.

Actually, I didn't mention mid-day breaks. We only do that when we stay onsite.

I have used Lyft to get to and from the parks. I'd say the most we waited was about 5 minutes for a car. We got dropped off at the guest drop-off/pick-up area off the Harbor entrance. Some drivers did ask if we wanted to be dropped off elsewhere, but that is where we preferred. I can't remember if there was surge pricing because we had a couple of referral credits that we didn't really care how much the fare was. I'd suggest downloading the apps and entering your pick-up/drop-off areas to get a better estimate of the cost. You'll also see if there is surge pricing at that specific time. At $5/person for ART, I'd actually prefer Lyft/Uber for a direct route with no additional stops.

I know DH could give me a referral credit for Uber. And I could have my son give BFF a referral credit.

It's the minimal waiting, direct trip in what is essentially a 'private car' rather than a bus that's just so appealing. Luckily we don't have to decide this until right before we go!

As far as surge pricing, we were thinking that we could always opt for ART if surge pricing was too much. Hopefully I'm understanding you right, that you're told in advance if surge pricing is in effect?

When you attempt to book, you are quoted a price on Uber/Lyft for that specific moment, and can say yes or no to the quote. And if surge pricing is in effect, you will also more than likely have a longer wait to be picked up.

Also note, ART does not sell day passes on its buses, you have to buy them in advance, either online, at the special ticket machines at Disneyland or busy stops, and some Hotel Front Desks. You can pay for a single trip on the shuttle (one way and no transfer to another route). Also many Hotels are serviced by multiple ART routes.

So both require some planning and decisions made in advance.

Darkbeer Thanks for the info re Uber/Lyft and surge pricing. DH and I have used Uber locally but there isn't much surge pricing where we live.

It's $3.00 exact change fare for a one way ticket on ART, IIRC. Wouldn't be a bad option if we got caught in surge pricing. When we stayed in our RV there were a couple of days where my DH dropped us off and we 'one way-ed' it back to the RV park.

We're kinda thinking we could check Uber/Lyft in the morning before ordering a ride and if it's surge or a long wait, we could always get a pass at the front desk or do a one-way fare with the plan to Uber/Lyft back.

I just checked my ride history for when we last used Lyft to get to the parks, and we did not have surge pricing on any of the days. We stayed at Eden Roc Hotel and used it to/from the parks every day in the morning for rope drop, in the afternoon for a break, and in the evening after park close. The fare was ~$7.00 minus a $5 referral credit each time.

I just entered Motel 6 to Disneyland on the Lyft app and it's estimating $7 for a regular Lyft ride (Lyft Line is less and Plus is more).
