Uber from SNA?

Do you think we'd be safe, size-wise, with XL if it's 2 adults, 1 toddler in a car seat, 3 large/medium suitcases, 1 smaller suitcase? (Yes, we pack a lot! HA!)
Yes, I think you'd be just fine. Uber XL is supposed to be able to carry 5 passengers so with 3 of you plus luggage I'm fairly sure there would be room.

I wouldn't want any of the heavy bags right next to my son so the 3 big one and stroller would all need to fit in the back.

We used Uber to the GC from SNA. Easy as can be, got a mini-van, super fast arrival. Tried to use it to return... no XL avail, and the only thing we could get was a Prius. 4 of us plus luggage, so that wasn't going to work! We quickly canceled, could find no other Uber option available at that time of day (it was about 4:30pm on Monday last week), and gave up on Uber after a frustrating 15min of going through options on the Uber app. The GC doormen waved a (mini-van) cab our way and had coupons for travel vouchers at a set price to the airport that were about the same as I would have paid for surge pricing for a big enough vehicle... if one were available, ha! Long story short - have a back-up plan if you're traveling during a busy time of day with more than 1 other person.

Sitting at SNA now :-( We used Uber both ways. We had three checked bags (one very large case and two smaller ones, we went to a wedding before Disney.) and three carry ons. We used Uber X on the way in and our pile barely fit into a Prius. We had bags in our laps and piled in the back seat. We ordered Uber XL to return to SNA and got a Highlander which was much more comfortable!

Our costs were $22 to the DLH and $31 back to SNA.

We'll never use cabs or shuttles again. SNA to GC was $19, return was $17.
Easy as could be. It's the only way to go!

Good to know, thanks! I think we could probably have the front desk of the hotel call a cab van for us if needed. At least, I would hope so.

Hi! Just checking with either of you as you have some experience with the Uber. We are going tomorrow morning, arriving about 11 a.m. and will check for the uber car after we get our luggage, which hopefully won't take too long. We each have a medium to large(but not super large), suitcase, plus a small to med (matching the other suitcases, just smaller), carryon with wheels, plus a bag. It's just myself and DD25. So, wondering if we can use an Uber X or do we need to do the Uber XL? Thanks for any help!

I haven't used UBER yet but if you would be fine in a regular car or taxi you should be fine with basic UBER. Worse comes to worst you can just keep your carryons with you

That makes sense, there are only two of us, after all. Hopefully their cars are about the size of a taxi. That'd be fine keeping our two carryons with us. They should be able to take two people and their luggage in one car, unless it's a super small car, I suppose. I suppose they could even keep a bag upfront if needed. Hate to pay the extra for the XL if we don't really need it. Thanks Disney_Alli, appreciate it!

The big case (maybe 30") and my rolling 22" case were all that fit into the trunk of the Prius we had with Uber X. DH sat up front and I had everything else piled up around me, but we had a lot of stuff due to the wedding. We just felt better getting the XL for the trip back.

Just returned from DLR. I downloaded both Lyft and Uber, but Uber gave us a superior discount so we went with them. FYI, here is what we got and what we paid:

SNA to Grand Californian Hotel: Uber XL for 5 people. Cost = $34; new rider discount $22 (when you first sign up you can use this: code is feeling22). Final cost = $12. Very new Kia Sorrento. Driver friendly and fun. Arrived to pick us up right outside baggage claim within 7 minutes, helped with luggage and super easy.

GCH to SNA: Uber XL. Cost = $31.78; used new rider discount again (daughter's phone) for a final cost of $9.78. Brand new Toyota Sienna, stocked with waters! Driver courteous and easy going. Arrived in 7 minutes, helped with luggage, drop off easy as could be.

I'm sold! As nice or nicer than a taxi, cheaper, and so easy. Lyft had a "first ride free" promo but it automatically uploaded a $50 discount that gives you $10 off on each of 5 rides. Don't think I'll be using it again before most of those expire. Uber's discount gave us $44 off instead of $20 so the choice was easy.
So glad you're experienced at this Cheri!! Now we'll be ready for our July trip!! :D

Anyone have a code? We're flying into LAX and a private exec car will be $85 one way- I'd love to do this, and if there is a code, I'd LOVE one!

I have a dumb question...can you sit in the passenger seat with Uber or do you have to sit in back?

Darn, that expires January 2017. I hope they put out a new one after that! :)

I think I read somewhere on this thread or another one, you want to get your first timer's promo code within a week of your arrival, because it expires? So I haven't downloaded the app yet, I'll wait till just before we go.

Uber is "RideShare" and although you can sit in the back, you are encouraged to sit in the front like you are getting a lift from a friend.

Uber X and XL I always hop in the front seat, Uber Black and SUV I sit in the back as it is more of a limo service...but we do pile in the front if we need the seats.
